I type to dang slow.
Ahhh, adjustable width. I knew there would be a great reason! I love these forums! I had been thinking if I did it with the hammock zipped up, then I could stuff it with extra clothes, etc. on colder nights. Maybe even fill it with down or some other insulator eventually and then sew the end up. So many ways to skin the cat...
Yeah but what can you really do with cat skins
Too take a WallyWorld bag and stuff it with down, then sew up the ends, would be a BIG waste of good money and down. You would be better off buying or making an UQ. The only thing that I can think of, when doing it rj's way, is then you are sleeping on the zipper.
cat skins = banjo heads
Finally pull the trigger. $10 Wally world 40*-60* bag. The camo grosgrain was $1.99 for the roll. Only used about a foot of it
I have done the very same thing but instead off eyelets in each corner i run a line of stitches down each side and threaded bungy cord through so it went the full length of the sleeping bag I also tied the two ends together so the bungy cord formed a loop then you can clip carabiners to it at each end to fasten it to your hammock. It works really well. If you would like so pictures let me know.
I'd love to see the pictures.
Yet another way to skin the cat:
This is not nearly as purty, but my first hang I was anxious to go and did not have a UQ.
I did the same thing but instead of grossgrain loops to attach the UQ suspension to I just gathered each corner of the sleeping bag and used a larkshead loop to attach it to the suspension.
