I have an old down parka from Cabela's that I kept after I melted a hole in one sleeve (woodstove). It looks funky with a piece of Gorilla tape as a patch, and I've since picked up a better parka. Inspired by wi1ecoyote, I'm dismantling the old one. First, I've removed the sleeves. Next I'll shorten them a bit (removing the damaged cuff on one) and attach to my down booties. At Mt. Rogers Joey had a pair of Flamethrower booties that Paul had attached leggings to, sort of knee-high down socks. They looked just the thing for cold-weather sleeping. Then I'll follow this thread to see what other good ideas come up for the rest of the parka. It would make a vest, as is, but I don't need one right now. I could enlarge the arm holes so it would fit Bonaparte as a dog coat, but I've already done that with another old vest. (It makes him look like an armadillo, but he's not fashion-conscious.) I like the UQ mod, but will wait to see if it needs to be reshaped.
