Discovered that my very first encounter with hammock campers was about 3 years ago at Goat Island in Lake Greenwood when I went to go look for a geocache there. A friend dropped my brother-in-law and me about 100yds off shore with a float and my phone in a ziplock bag. We could see there were a bunch of people on the island and there was no way we were going to be able to be stealthy. This guy paddles up in his kayak with his dog and asks if we want him to pull us in. He attached our float to his kayak and proceeds to paddle and pull us to shore. Today, I discovered that rescuer was CHICKENWING! Small world!!! We had no choice but to tell them what we were doing and a couple of the guys went with us to look for the cache. We didn't get to claim a find on the geocache as the island had reclaimed it and we only found a few fragments of it, but we enjoyed talking to the campers and learning just a little about hammock camping. I remember thinking...What?? They just camp out of hammocks?? That is kinda weird, but kinda cool! Now, three years later...look what has happened!!!!!
