Great idea with those rubber bands!
I've read that bungee cord will loose it's ability to retract when temperatures are very cold (anyone know what temp-range that is?).
So, I'm wondering if some Silicone rubber bands would be better than the standard ones for this use, during cold temps??

I've had them (rubber) to -10 Celsius (14 Fahrenheit) without problem.
They do need replacing as they wear, but it takes a fairly long time, as-in several months. I have a big bag, courtesy of work (Cheers boss)

The dude telling me how to make guys tense? I never saw that one coming! (Great idea, and movie!)

I could have worded the subject better, I'll give you that

I guess most guys are self tensioning these days... But not the dude!
(Ok I'll stop now, sorry.)

Excellent idea, simple and cheap. Will be grabbing a handful of elastic bands from work to try that out.
Thanks for sharing. :)

Nice idea Al :)
... but my tensioners are tied in so I don't need to faff each time I rig my tarp

Wow...it's a rubber-band-aid! Get it? <chortle-snort>
I LOVE it...incorporating it this weekend!

I love the idea. I'll have to try it.

For those that missed this "sticky" in the DIY forum, here's a way that uses no extra hardware and can be added or removed without removing the guy line from the tarp. See the first two posts. Shockcord, silicone tubing, etc. can be used... http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=3731
