I've got a bad back and one night in my hammock changed me for life! It's night and day difference from being able to stand up and not. I wish my hammock was in my bed room!
I found out about hammocks from a friend who recommended the HH to me when I mentioned that I was going to do part of the AT. I quietly filed away his advice in the 'Hmmmm?' realm and continued looking for a UL tent, preferably one that my wife could stay in as well. So one night after getting paid I go home and open up the internet with full intention of buying a tent, credit card in hand, and go to the link I had been looking at every night for a week (Six Moons Design Lunar Duo as it was). Well guess what... SMD's website was down that night. "404 Page not found"!! I have learned to listen to the universe when it talks to me so I spent the next few hours figuring out what it was trying to say. Then I remembered that sage "Hmmmm" advice and finally took the plunge around 2 in the morning without a second thought. It just felt right....OHHH SOOO RIGHT ;-P
Started dating a hanger recently (Hooch) and he is very convincing. Sleeping on the ground has always been my least favorite part of hiking. Always stiff in the morning, no matter what pad setup I used. Going to use my new hammock for the first time this weekend. My first planned attempt didn't pan out. Way too cold and windy, stayed in the shelter with tarp over the opening. Need to get an underquilt if I want to hammock in February I guess.
