Women-specific pack, 65l capacity.
Used pack, in excellent condition. Used on one backpacking trip. Stored inside. One dog in the house.
Pack is model year 2009, shoulder harness and heat-moldable hip belt BRAND NEW 2012.
This is important: the belt, even without the heat molding process, will form to your shape with wear. You are getting an UNUSED belt.
Osprey customer service has confirmed that Ariel packs and belts/harness from 2009-2012 are completely compatible.
Pack size Medium and harness/belt women's large.
All zippers and buckles in good working order.
Pack buckles black, new harness system buckles gray.
This pack has a great system of compression straps, inside and outside the body of the pack, allowing a much smaller load without your stuff bouncing around and shifting.
Right: three straps on front of pack
Top left: back to front exterior compression
Bottom left: sleeping bag compartment compression
There is also a hard-to-describe interior compression that will hold any size load firmly to the back of the pack.
Interior hydration sleeve and ports on both sides.
Removable soft divider for sleeping bag compartment.
Key clip in top lid of pack.
This pack is a top loader for the main compartment: no front access. Separate front entry for the sleeping bag section.
Large stretch front pocket
The lid/top compartment of the pack can be removed from the pack and used - with the backpack hip belt - as a fanny pack.
Bottom of lid showing sleeve for attaching hipbelt for fanny pack use.
The stretch mesh waterbottle pockets have two openings to allow access while wearing the pack.
Slight traces of pine sap present on bottom of pack. Otherwise very clean.
Weighs about 4 1/2 pounds on my antique fish scale.

My one and only bump.
OK its a good looking pack and my stupid question of the day is, What makes it for a woman only? What about a child, ????
But for a serious answer:
For this particular pack by Osprey, it seems to me that the hipbelt is shaped to accommodate curvy hips. I've always been a little reluctant to jump on the 'woman specific' bandwagon but in this case I find the shoulder harness does not dig into my shoulders.
As for fitting a child. HA I'm female and am 5'10" and (when I'm as skinny as I should be) will weigh 170lbs. So in many cases woman-sized does not equal child-sized.
In the past, I think woman specific gear has sometimes been sized smaller, and indeed the 3 pack sizes for the Aether men's pack are 60 70 85l, while the current Ariel are 55, 65, 75 since it is assumed that women will not want to carry as much weight.
However, in terms of fit Osprey has, at least realized that women can be just as tall or taller than men. The Aether men's pack across the three sizes (s, m, l) fit torso lengths from 16.5 - 22.5, while the Ariel states "Under 16"" and goes right on up to 22.5.
I know a lot of companies do the same. My son is just about an inch short of six foot. Looking at the picks you posted I don't see why it could not fit him. If it has not already sold by tomorrow night when I get home I may take it off your hands. I need to check my budget :) thank you for answering my questions
