I live in Ithaca, so I'd love to come, but alas I work on Saturdays. Have fun, take some cool pictures! Somehow I've never gotten out to the National Forest yet!
I'm coming wwwwwaaaaayyyyy late to this, but I'd like to do this trip one of these days, and would love to link up with any NY folk (or, y'know, people who wanna travel to NY).
You had me at Cap'n Morgan, Hammocks, and the Awesome Beard.

Oh, forgot to mention, this thing gets pretty taut very easily, which is a plus!
Hey there, gang!
Been testing my Grand Trunk Funky Forest Tarp (now the All-Purpose Rain Fly I think) all summer, and thought I'd post some pics/musings.

I do a lot of winter camping, and have a 15* down bag (Marmot Pinnacle) I love, but it's a lil' cold...
That's what I was thinking too, Grannypat--I always see the big ol' things toppled over, but the thinner young ones seem to hang strong. And I hear ya, Mountman! I don't feel like repeating that...

So, a buddy and I were out on an overnight hang in upstate New York, which like most of the North East has been SOAKED lately. Now, I know to avoid big-ol' trees with old...
I know everyone's probably looking for one, but...
Looking for a winter underquilt, preferably down, preferably full length, but synthetic and/or 3/4 is fine too. I've never bought anything...
Maybe I missed it among the 16pgs of this thread, but has anyone tried fixing it into a UQ? I'm highly considering it at this point, but wanted to see if anyone had any feedback.
I work at Old Goat Gear Exchange (http://oldgoatgearexchange.com/welcome.html). Small little business, buy-sell-trade-consign and new samples, etc etc. I'm our resident hanger/runner :). I hang...
Howdy!
My name's Chris--I'm a long time browser, new-time forum member. I'm in Ithaca, NY, where I run a gear shop, run, bike, read (thus the username--love me some American lit), and of course,...
