Speak for youself, I have done it at least five times...
Maybe some sort of mouse protection on your suspension? It must climb into the hammock from the trees through the suspension, so if you can make the suspension impenetrable you might keep it out....
That makes no sense. The hammock has a ridgeline for a reason... If you like the lay better with more sag, just shorten the ridgeline, set it up taut and you will automatically and consistently get...
I could see it working great while the baby is too small to be able to crawl out of it. Then you probably have to give up hammocks for a few years for safety.
1. Why would this work better high in the canopy than a normal hammock? Do you need it to be stable enough to stand up/kneel up on?
2. I wouldn't be so sure that 11mm rope won't damage the bark,...
My money is on the two rappel rings pinching it and tearing the sheath. HH recommends the figure-of-eight lashing for durability, and with this thin cord it's probably justified.
BTW what's the...
Just taper the end, and use the smallest diameter wire you can find that is stiff enough to feed through the buries. I have spliced similar diameter cord and tapering it makes a world of difference....
You're good at this!
It's all down to the great advances made in LED technology (if you have a bulb that converts electricity mostly into light instead of converting it mostly into heat, you can put a much more powerful...
I tried to take photos of it but it's not really possible without a wide angle lens or finding some better vantage point on a neighbouring hillside. I couldn't fit the whole thing into a frame, and...

Another photo I made that shows the arch better:...
Anchor points that are far apart make for a long "pendulum", which I find very pleasant for lounging. The hammock has a slow, long swing instead of the quick back-and-forth rocking you get with a...

This is from a recent trip to Austria, with my travel partners chilling in the grass and Wolfgangsee in the distance.
I think that's very different from sleep paralysis. What you're describing is just the normal transition between being asleep and being awake; I think everyone gets those half-conscious moments where...
It does sound terrifying, but as far as I know it's completely harmless. I.e. it passes on its own with no physical ill effects every time.
To those that suffer from sleep paralysis, are you aware...
I don't think that came anywhere near the breaking strength of the rope. Pulling a vehicle on reasonably smooth, level ground doesn't take much force. For comparison, a single person can push a car...
Seconded. It would be daft to go up more than 10 ft high without safety. Equipment fails, people make dumb mistakes, tree branches break. One way the prusik could fail is that it moves a couple of...
There are both stretchy (dynamic) and non-stretchy (static) climbing ropes out there.
I question the usefulness of the "tight rope & prusiks" suspension scheme. You're putting extra stress on your...

You're probably better off doing it in a single tree, not between two trees. Much easier to execute (don't need to climb from one tree to the other to set up the hammock) and probably safer in wind....
He doesn't have the sack and is trying to determine whether to buy it. It's not such a difficult concept to grasp.
Every hammock design ever created allows you to use a standard sleeping bag and your favourite pillow. Your favourite in-hammock pillow may be smaller than yor favourite in-bed pillow, but I don't...
Not sure if anyone tested that specific combination. The opening on the wide end of the XL is about 10.5 cm across when laying flat. So, make a loop of string of the same size and see if you can...
That probably applies to all hammocks in this weight class. As an example, the HH hyperlite weighs a little more (765g) and has a lower weight limit (200 lbs).
Yes, that's why I linked the Dutch version. I guess this is a relatively new product and they haven't gotten around to translating the product page yet. (The company is Dutch).
I'm really happy that...
Here's an interesting one: while browsing the camping section in a hiking store, I came across the TravelSafe Travel Hammock. I don't think I've heard that name before. Turns out it's a Dutch company...
Hang up your hammock the way you like it and take a tape measure to it. See how far the two closest possible suspending points are and you will have your answer.
Exactly. I just looked it up and people do spray the entire fur of dogs with permethrin. Sounds a bit radical but it's generally safe from what I can tell.
It's also one of the active ingredients of...
^Thanks, that's a new one to me. I want something waterproof(ish), but if everything else falls through, I might go for this.
^Yeah, I don't want to leave my sleeping bag inside. The whole package would be unmanageably large and I sometimes need my bag without the hammock (scandalous, I know!)
I have a good idea about the...
Thanks... it seems that nobody makes what I need. (As noted above, the lazy slug is way too big for me. It's also expensive and not shipped to Hungary.)
I have considered DIY and I do have some...
I would like some snake skins that I can stuff my HH explorer ultralite & supershelter into. I just don't want to faff about with packing away the pad separately and installing it every time....
If I were you and happened to like the safari otherwise, I'd just buy it and be done with it. It has the highest weight rating for a reason, and it's close enough to your weight that it's probably...
I'm pretty sure it's not the suspension that limits the hammock weight ratings. Climbing ropes can take 1000+ pounds of weight, even the skinny ones.
Hennessy hammocks don't stretch noticeably at...
Hi everyone!
I've been thinking of upgrading my insulation for chilly autumn (not winter!) nights. I've been using a very thin silver-backed pad, which works passably well, but is a bit of a pain...
You should probably look into the fabric that they use on beach chairs. That's largely the same use/environment. Nothing's gonna last (and look attractive) forever, you/the operators should just plan...
