Thanks for this good review. I've looking at the Vertex for a while. I'm glad they offer just the Double V now. I'm just not sold on the weathershield specially since you need a tarp any way for...
I've loved my maccat deluxe... was thinking about buying another, but decided to make one... got the supplies but haven't started yet....
Yeap that's like fronkeys, with out the drawstring/shock cord bottom. I made one last week for the yard Eno DN. But will end up trimming it so the bottom stays off the ground for when and if we...
First figure the stretch of your cord then you can figure how much you need. You want the inner part to stay tight against the hammock. The cord I used stretches at least double.
I use 4’...
Here's the hug I made with pockets on the sides. I should have put them father towards the foot end, so I'll add a couple more and then may trim the head end some.
I think it maybe a little long,...
I end ed up using the singer to finish the bug net i as making.
Still have some mods to do my hug, going to do bottom pockets like the net at DIY supply...
I know this should be a very reliable machine, it was passed down to my wife.
So I don't mind getting it rebuilt/overhauled if necessary.
Thanks for link I'll check it out, been gone all day today.
Yep thats what she says....
My wife said I could use her Pfaff 1222, finally... I've been using our old Singer https://www.hammockforums.net/gallery/files/1/2/4/7/5/dscf6266_thumb.jpg
But the Pfaff has gotten stuck in...
Thanks. It seemed to me some of the stands get over complicated. This is kinda a proto type to test the idea.
I had some mods and material ideas even before I started... the 2x4 does flex, and...
I don't know if many of you used the Alatrails web site that closed down recently. But Whiteblazes started up a pinhoti forum in the long trail section...
My thoughts too... the diagonal in a 6.5 bed is about 8' so it wouldn't take much to increase that so you could hang in comfort....
Made this hammock stand today. Used 2x8’s for the base, 2x6 for the feet and 2x4 for the outrigger, upright.
The uprights just slip between the guides you see in one of the photos. They are at...
I bought a DN Deluxe recently. Got home today and set it up, and it has a seam of center in it. I found it annoying, and guess I'll exchang it for a regular DN.
I bought this one to use in the...
I made my quilt sets aiming at a 10* differential. 10/20 ans 30/40. Really its just like home, to hot poke a leg out, or kick the covers off...
I've made a couple big bags from muslin and have one in a big pillow case.
Mainly I just put on the ground, but some time hang it. Depends mainly on my location and the weather.
I go when I can. Although I do try and avoid August.
I just adjust my pace and expectations and be sure to hydrate. But acclimation is sure key. I don"t have full control over the thermostat in...
My summer quilts are made from what they now call the nobul1 from TI Goat, also. I can attest to it being soft and having nice fell, no break in needed.
Cool, Thats were my diy hammock started... I was short noseeum and now I'm thinking about just making a hug type net, save a little weight...
Nice work, what hammock plans did you use as a guide?
There are several, I can't find the one I was looking for. I'm thinking about trying it myself when I get back to making stuff.
The problem seem to be getting the right cut on the outer so that...
A cuben tarp is on my todo list but it may be a while... I notice that people are cutting cat curves on them and I wonder if that is because you can get it tight enough along the edges or folks just...
Very nice...
Set one and play with the length, but the 83% is a good starting point.
I'd email him from the OES site. That's wait I would do. I was thinking about ordering another maccat from him later this year.
Activity here is really no indicator...
The permethrin is in a solvent base soaking your tarp in it may ruin it! As for how long, I've read some folks do it over night etc... I don't I do different time depending on material no real set...
Favorite quote of the day ;)
I’ve thought about what do should I every be able to get the wife to come out for overnight in the hammock, and a big tarp seems to be a good idea, I do like the honeymoon suite with the vestibule.

I'll probably mode the one for the yard more like my other hammocks with whoopies, but I want to keep my daughters easy for now.
So I think telling her the 30* angle and a daisy chain strap will...
Do everything but the tree straps and tarp.
I do the soak method, spray the shoes. Tarp is silnylon, so not sure soaking it would matter, and I really don't want to kill the bugs that are just...
Rolloff I've been out the loop for a bit but the nobull falls in between the M50 and M90 weight wise. I made these https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=46263 out of what I believe...
I agree with dragon, I like my stuff sacks a little large, the ones I made for my quilts are the same way. Keeps things organized and lets them conform to fill packs space better.
I use poly webbing on my set ups, and just really didn't pay attention that these straps were nylon when I ordered them. I figured ENO was a hammock company and would know better...
I'll return...
I just bought a couple of ENO's DN, one for my daughter, she keep asking to take one of my hammocks to festivals etc... and one for the backyard, porch and campground use.
When I ordered I just...
If I'm concerned about the wind I hang the hammock a little lower if I can and still get a good hang.
And then bring the tarp down and angle out as much as I can with out getting to much wind...
That is the easiest way, and how I prefer to do it.
The less little pieces I have to pack and keep up with the better...
My whole set up is in the snake skin. Its a DIY with pockets on each end.
And so it begins...
Wow that will be great. Its on my to do list for sure....
Look fwd to the reports...
Looks like a good resource... Definitely on my list of places to check out...
The formulas I found and I believe will put you very close are:
For down or loose synthetic down temp F= 56.7 - (11.64 x loft) or
loft = (56.7 - temp F)/ 56.7
For sport or primaloft one: 60...
With a CRL I don’t see an advantage to having more than one fly, in fact the advantage is having just one. Only one thing to tie, I can slide the tarp back and forth of it needs adjustment, and it...
Nice report, I'll have to get back to checking the forum regular and maybe make a future hang.
The Skyway, Silent, Pinhoti loop is a favorite...
Here's my new CRL set up using Dutch Gear accessories. I weighed the tarp, snakeskin and stuff sack after putting the pieces on and still it is just 470g. :)

I had planned on doing the Alabama part, but didn't quite plan right, so I'm taken what I'll call an extended resupply. I'll finish it up in the fall.
The Cheaha area has several nice loops to...
First, thanks to Blister Bob and his friendly service and hospitality.
I didn’t keep a real log so I’m pulling this all from my less than prefect memory.
Started out on the 4th at Flagg...
I make channels in the edge of the quilt, then put a 4 foot section of shock cord hook in each side, tied to two 4 foot sections of zing it for the sides. This is then hooked into a soft shackle at...
Like stated better to much than too little, but it also matters if your doing rolled hems, and or making channels for cord also.
