Hey Mike! Long time no talk! My daughter and I were there last month and camped at Lake #3. We camped in an area where we did see trees but you definitely need longer straps as the girth of the...
Spent this past weekend bikepacking. Camped at Leo Carrillo and they have good trees to hang from. The hike & bike campsite does not require advanced reservation and it's $10 per night. Hot...
I haven't been active with the group as of late but I will keep an eye on this..hopefully I can get some time-off for the group hang. I can do another demo if I end up going but not really sure what...
It's been a long time since I've posted...that was my trip report when I went to Spruce Grove.

Really going to miss hangin' with you guys...was just out this past weekend testing the new UQ I made. Hopefully we can have another group hang in the coming months.

Was recently at Death Valley over at Panamint City...no place to hang but still an awesome spot to...
No, haven't paid...reason being, I wasn't sure if I was going. Really bummed about not being able to join you guys :(
Sad to say that I am going to miss this years Hang :(
I'll just have to live through the photos you all post after :)
Confirming my attendance...I'll change later as appropriate but for now I'm 100%
 I had an excuse why I didn't sleep in my rig ;)
Couldn't let my little girl sleep all by herself inside the tent :D
Check my sig below, I have a link to it. My second backpack has not been documented but I plan on bringing it. The latest pack I made weighs around 12 oz., has a hipbelt, sternum belt w/ whistle...
I've made a couple backpacks too  We can compare each other's handy work :D
Also made a synthetic UQ..maybe I can sleep on my rig this time around. Anyone bringing kids? Debating if I...
I should be able to make it...date looks ok to me :D
Snow is falling a bit early in the Sierra's this year. Good news I guess considering how dry it's been here in California.
As stated, more time for training. I'm heading up to Ediza Lake via...
Wasn't that you guys with the loud radios
I should be able to make that date...
Welcome to HF!
Keep a look out on local planned hangs...it's a great way to see everyone's setup, etc.
Personally, I typically don't like car camping as much...prefer to backpack. I'm free most weekends.
I'm planning a trip on the 27th to Cooper Canyon with the kiddos...there should be some trees...
A few of the SoCal Hangers actually met up back in March...

Deep in the San Gabriel Wilderness area, there are good trout to be caught. Another option is also Middle Fork area in the Cucamonga Wilderness. I don't fish but know of people that do in those...
It was hot on the way down today! We ended up just staying at Timber Mtn. yesterday and decided to tackle Telegraph and Thunder when the temps get a bit cooler

Welcome from near the valley! Headed to your neck of the woods this weekend :) Hitting up 3 T's via Icehouse for an overnight.
I have a Sierra Designs Revival 65 size L if anyone is interested. I can send pics over.
Good thing you didn't put the company on blast...glad it all worked out.
I've been following that thread as well...sad but entertaining.
Welcome from L.A.!
Since you want to try it out, you might get away with just making one yourself. It might also be cheaper. Since you're in L.A., if you have time, check out Michael Levine Fabrics in DTLA, you can...
Welcome from Los Angeles!
Search for the Nemo Bugout Elite...pretty much the idea that your looking for I believe.
I'm in! I could use a better pointy thing :)
:shades: @Scott, this is such stand-up offer and one of the many reasons why I like going through your shop! Really cool of you to offer that :thumbup1:
Wonder if that site is trustworthy enough though...have you ordered from them or this is just something you googled?
Too bad you can't DIY a new camera LOL! I'm liking the gear...great job!
Be warned :scared: I didn't use my hammock due to the trees in the area. These aren't you're typical skinny pines when you're camping at 8800 ft.
Anyway, I just thought I would share...
How about a quilt instead of a sleeping bag? RevelationX from enLightened Equipment is right around your price point. So much lighter and it will compress much smaller than any of the...
So sorry for your loss thorwren. My condolences to you and yours :(
Welcome! If you're up for a quick overnight, I'm headed to Mt. Baldy this weekend. Won't be hammocking up there but it will be good to meet you nonetheless.

If they're graphite shafts, you can remove the club head and turn then into fixed length trekking poles. You could also cut one up and make toggles for your Marlin Spike.
You can also make frame...
Awesome report as usual Mudman!
Having a scale is definitely an eye opener. Here's an example of my current gear list - http://www.geargrams.com/list?id=7137
Me likey lots! Either one!
Ordered my stuff and got everything this past Friday for my second MYOG backpack! Thanks Scott!
:boggle: She's a beaut!
Personally, I never liked smashing my down items inside a small stuff sack. As others have said, my down bag goes inside my trash compactor bag without the need of stuff sacks.
You should check out Fish Creek, there are some camping spots there. Last time I was in AB was in 2008.

If it's the complete package including the suspension, this would be a great start. I would go for it...worst case, you can resell it.
However, just make sure, if you can, that the fabric is...
Sweet! Looking forward to it.
