I have a Darien UL I'm willing to sell if you're interested.
I started out with a CRL and haven't tried two lines. What I do like with running the line under the tarp, is it gives me a place to hang clothes out of the rain.
150? If I was that old I'd want to make sure they would hold too! [emoji3]
Try Whiteblaze.net. It's kinda the sister forum to this one.
Hey there Shug, the AMOK really looks comfortable. Just how flat can you lay? It looked like you were in a chair. Does the back adjust down and flat?
Thanks for your vids.
Yoziggy, you asked for advice in your OP, and SilvrSurfr has raised legitimate concerns, yet you seem to not want to listen. Material types have been discussed much on this site, so if you truly...
Count me in!
I fully concur with SivrSurfer. I have a 1.1 SL hammock that developed stress marks in several areas the first summer I used it. I am 30 lbs. under max weight.
Not only that, sleeping in a 1.1...
Quilt is sold!
I stated above that the quilt is 900 fill, but looking further at my invoice, it is the 850 fill down. New price, $250.
I stated above that the quilt is 900 fill. When I looked further at my bill of sale, the quilt is 850 fill. New price, $250.
I forgot to add this quilt doesn't have a zipper, but ties.
I've decided to go with a quilt with a different temperature rating, so I have one for sale. I have a Zpacks 40* down quilt that has never been on the trail, but has only been used on our living...
Packa is sold!
Packa is still available.
I have a Mt. Washington 3 and absolutely love it. They are superb quilts and very high quality. I would buy it again.
Fall is just around the corner. This is a great rain jacket for shoulder season. It's like wearing your own personal shelter!
Well, I've held onto this Packa now for a year now and I just haven't worn it, and I don't think I will, and I would like to buy some newer gear. I am reluctantly selling it, but it will probably...
Would you share with the rest of us?
+ to all the above posts. I too had a similar experience with the Jacks. My first piece of gear ever was a Mt. Washington 3 UQ.
I also found this true, however I still need just a little support under my neck.
Then did you double that wire and twist it ?
Reviving an old thread, I know. I assume the above posts refer tools used for 7/64 Amstel. It is not clear if these can also be used for 2.2mm dynaglide.
What do you use for the 2.2mm line?
+1. I use 4' tree straps and 5' whoopies, that work just about anywhere in the east. Just don't need any more length than these.
I used my 11' Darien UL and 11' Hammock Gear cuben tarp this past summer on my Long Trail thru hike. It rain every night for two weeks straight.
There just was not enough coverage of the tarp...
You really know how to taunt a guy!
I have a 10' WBBB 1.1 DL, and an 11' Darien UL 1.0 SL from Dream Hammock. I personally see no difference in the lay between the two. I an 5' 10" tall and weigh 175.
Perhaps if the Darien were a...
I have a JRB 20" No Sviveller top quilt, the one that has the head hole in the middle and can be worn as a camp jacket. In this case it's nice that the foot box can be undone. However, the vcro does...
I've always used titanium shepherds hook stakes and I've never had one pull out in the wind.
9" of bury is not enough according to Sampson Rope. You should have about 12" bury.
That so called music was truly annoying. But thanks for the great tip.
Sold pending payment.
So I am cleaning out my gear closet and need to sell my Baby Orca. I bought this last fall, and it is still in new, mint condition. It has never been wet, dirty, sweaty, and never taken on the...
I don't think that makes you old. I was born in 1945. Now how do you feel?
Well, I was including the cover. As much as I love the BB (and I still use it), I've decided my total weight is too much. Therefore I've gone to a Darien UL at only 11 ounce without suspension. ...
This the one I want. I hung last summer, and I swear it was 523*.
You need to ask yourself how you are going to use your hammock. Are you backpacking or car camping, or just setting up in your backyard. Keep in mind the XLC is nearly double the weight of the BB. As...
I do this same thing except I use a piece of an old shower curtain. My wife is changing them frequently so they become drop clothes or welcome mats.
The small figure nines holds 1.75 zingit just fine. That's what I've used for the last couple of years, and I've never had them slip. In fact, Whoopieslings.com sells ridge lines all made up that...
Why not just push it to one end of the hammock? You're only sitting in the very center.
On the WBBB, I don't stake the shelf side at all. The shelf is still every accessible. Furthermore, i removed the elastic cord entirely. I do stake the entry side as that makes for a lot more room...
I got the 11' Darien UL, with 4' straps and 5' dyneema whoopie slings. I've been busy here so I haven't even had it out of the bag yet.
I ordered mine on dec. 3rd and just received it Jan. 4th. Keep in mind it probably takes a little longer over the holidays.
Once you order and are given an order number, you can keep track on the...
I just got word that my new Darien 11' UL Woodland Camo shipped yesterday!
I live 5 miles from a state park on Lake Erie, so I hiked to the campground about 5 times for an overnight in June, with my WBBB 1.1 DL. Each night was a kinda shakedown. Then I went for 14 days on...
On the Whoopiesling website, I found tarp tieouts, which are great. These are 8' of 1.75 yellow zing it with a zingit loop larks headed onto the line
The idea is to larks head the loop onto the...
My current setup is 5 inch tree straps and 8 inch whoopies. Total weight 0.5 oz.
Correct. Conventional wisdom in the laboratory says that if you want reliable accuracy, the scale needs precision ten times greater than the level of precision you are seeking. Therefore if you want...
I agree with pgibson on this. It is ridiculous to measure to that degree of accuracy. Do you realize just how small a unit that is?
However if you really want to pursue that, you can get a scale...
