I think its more comfortable because it is much wider. Most homemade hammock are about 60" wide and that spells the difference!;)

Hi GT:)
I used zipper on my claytor and hh clone. Zipper is much better b/c there is no issue with velcro bunching up or not aligning. Zippers are noiseless too.;)
Hi Corsican!:)
You can put a ridgeline on a claytor by poking a hole thru the bugnet and passing the ridgeline thru the hole. Ive done it on my claytor clone. A ridgeline inside the bugnet has...
Welcom Daniel!:)
Your setup looks good for stealth camping. You have to tighten the hammock or lower the tarp a little bit to prevent windblown rain from entering though.
looks cool TD! We will be looking forward for your post on how to make and attach the bugnet.
Im sure you could make a cat cut tarp out of it.:) I've made a diamond tarp out of bits and pieces of blue tarp and it worked fine. The only downside is you have to sew and glue/seal the seams with...
Is it the metal angle bracket on the base? I failed to see that one!
Welcome to the forum Imagine.peace!:)
Ive used two layers of nylon tafetta for my hammocks. They worked fine. I believe if you use two layers of 1.1 oz nylon ripstop it would be much stronger than...
I noticed that warbonnet's stand has no side support. Is it unstable when the hammock is rocked from side to side? Maybe stainless or galvanized wires tied to eyebolts from the verticals down to the...
I think it has a built in channel for a spreader bar but i cannot be sure. The GI m-65 does have a provision for inserting poles on the side to make the hammock into a stretcher.:)
I tried some lashed bamboo tripods for my hammock and they worked fine. Just be sure to cut the bamboo close to the nodes to prevent splitting.:)
anyone knows the specs for the first picture? Looks nice! Foldable?
Yo TD!:)
Looks nice. I hope to finish mine too within the week or so. What material did you use for spreader? Im planning to use wooden dowels b/c they much cheaper. Thanks for the show and tell.
Teachers are zealous lot. They never teach the nice stuff. They want it all for themelves!:p
Welcome handsomeryan!:)
Its nice to have another convert to hammock camping. I like mountain biking too and it surely eats up all the excess lbs as my experience suggest. Mountainbiking and...
The set up looks kinda complicated. I have a hard time imagining how the whole thing is put together. Looks heavy too!
Welcome to the Forum Mandorak!:)
I saw a picture in your website showing a hammock enclosed in a white mosquito net http://www.ticketothemoon.com/VIRTUALSHOP/mosquito-net.asp and it looked...
Welcome Tsani!
There is a camo hammock being sold on e-bay. Its from vietnam. Neo ordered some. I think its much lighter than the GI hammock. Cheap but does not come with a tarp.
There is a stealth camping guy in canada who who use the single pole method. this is the link http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=lt&doc_id=1857&v=6s . I havent tried it myself but i believe it...
Yo Funbun!
Ive just bought several yards of bridal satin for the hammock body and 1 1/2 inch nylon webbing for suspension. I plan to use the webbing instead of cord/rope for suspension becuse im...
My two cents worth on cat cut hammock!;)
An adjustable spreader bar would be nice in eradicating shoulder squeeze. Probably, another spreader bar on the lower part of the fabric end cap would be...
Amen to that! Please make more toys!:D
I think the solution to shoulder squeeze is to have a wider spreader bar near the head end.
Has anyone tried the australian or JRB Bear Mountain bridge hammock? Im interested in any report or preview before doing a DIY. Will a webbing suspension be more workable instead of a rope like the...
I have two kids. One is 6 yrs old and the other 13. They have their own hammock and love sleeping on it at home (backyard camping) or the outdoors with minimal supervision. I would still suggest that...
Welcome Isaiah!:)
Its nice to have you here. Can you give us the link to trek light? Im not too familiar with the product. What makes trek light different from other hammocks?
I think it looks like a folding ultralight camping table. Coleman has one in their website.
Welcome to the Forum Boo Radley!:)
If you want to go ultralight a diy hammock and tarp would be a good option. But, if you have no time or aptitude for diy there are many manufactures who will...
Nice to have you in the Forum Boondock!:D
I think the tarp has a PU coating. Tarps coated with PU are not really that waterproof. The tarp has tiny (almost microscopic) hole in it. If the the Polyurethane coating is not liberally applied...
Welcome Boondock!:)
Nice to have you here. Dont you know that the word boondock originated from "bondok" a Filipino word for jungle or wilderness. Anyway, Im sure you love the outdoors as your...
Welcome!:)
It might be condensation that you are experiencing and not leakage. If you are using a claytor manufactured 8x10 tarp chances are it would be made of polyurethane coated nylon tafetta....
I think the Amazonas hammock have something on their site. Its called Madeira stand or something and its made of sectioned 2x2. Its perfect for one tree set-up. Two madeira stands eliminates the tree...
The JRB version appears to sag in the middle. I dont think it is similar to the ausie hammock.
Same problem here!
This type of hammock stand is kinda nice to look at and compact too! I am still in the process of making a working drawing/plan of a wooden(2x2) version and the...
Im really curious about this claim that a no-sag Hammock is much comfortable to an HH, Speer, or claytor? Anyone tried the JRB hammock yet? How does it feel? I hope nobody patents this concept or has...
Welcome to the forum dsshepard!:)
Nice to have you here! Tom claytor's jungle hammock i believe is a little bit longer than the mosquito hammock. I havent been near the product but judging from the...
Guys and Gals!:)
There is a new hammock design in town! Check this out http://www.australianheritagefleet.com.au/SpecEv/Hammock.html ! I just got this from yahoo!hammock camping group. Quite...
Yeah, I did use the teardrop shaped carabiniers because the big rounded side approximates the shape of the ring. It was a snug fit for the webbing. The other end of course is just right for a spectra...
Guys!
After posting my question i got back home and tested it with my mini biniers(teardrop shaped type?) and it worked. I would still be hunting for a suitable replacement though. :)
Guys!
Is it possible to use two biniers instead of descendin rings? I asked this question b/c i cant find any rings in our locality and my only option (if carabineirs would not work) is to fabricate...
Cool! That would be one or two less customer for tom hennesy!
Sorry to disapoint you guys but my english is not that good.:o Its a bit of effort for me to write a detailed description of my project. Anyway, i will give you a show and tell later. I do have a...
I am glad you liked my country. There are many scenic spots to visit and the people are hospitable. It would be nice if you and the rests of the hanging mafia can visit the Philippines.:)
Congratulations for your first hammock! Nice pics too! I guess your second project would be a bugnet bivy to go with your hammock. Hmmm, maybe you should follow it up with a tarp/rainfly....a...
If i can buy them I would not even use them. Coconut palm have a nasty habit of of discarding heavy ripe/old coconuts as well as dead coconut fronds anytime of the day. Hanging a hammock and sleeping...
Amen and seconded!:)
This is a unique and compact set-up. I think a wooden diy version would be nice. This probably would be my next project.;)
Nice to have you back!:)
Welcome to the Forum and Congratulations mobiltoy!
What fabric did you use for the hammock body, is it tafetta or ripstop?
