I have lived under USGI ponchos literally for months, and through some serious rainstorms. It all depends on your comfort zone.
How wet can you and your gear be...and still be comfortable...
Deep Woods Off bugspray, Avon "skin so soft", and bullfrog bug/sunblock spray work well here in SE Texas/ Louisiana... but West Nile Virus is now something to worry about, so a hammock bugnet is on...
