I'm not trying to be flippant or facetious here but I have to ask. If you have to push, or force, yourself to go out, then what is the point? Maybe you shouldn't. It's been my experience that we...

Leave them attached. Then you can't forget to pack them and leave them at home or at a campsite when packing to move. It also wastes time to remove them and reattached them each time,
I live 25 miles east of Champaign, just north of Farmer City. I would be happy to get together with you and share what I can. I will be busy with farming for a while, as long as the weather is fit...
You might want to check with with Jared at Simply Light Designs. He can make you a 10' net less hammock in just about any fabric you want for about $40 and have it to your door in a few days if the...
Still available.
My thoughts, too. I am 6'2" and in my own evolution of hammock use I have found I really prefer wider hammocks. Not necessarily the widest but those 62-64" and wider.
I really like the Mountain Fly. The peaked ends and partial doors are a great compromise for great weather protection while still be lighter and less bulky than full doors.
My advice would be to not buy a 13' tarp until you have actually seen one set up and if possible, actually used a borrowed one. It seems to me that many newbies seem to think the bigger the tarp, the...
With a 11' tarp you'll still have about a foot on each end and that is plenty, especially with a hammock with doors. A 13' tarp is huge and IMO, a PITA. All my tarps are 11'.
There is no bug net in the photos. Am I correct in assuming one is not included?
I have 2 new, unused packs for sale. I bought these several years ago for my sons to use on a backpacking trip that never happened. They aren't ultralight packs but they are fairly light and pretty...
You do not have to camp in the campgrounds in Shawnee National Forest. Virtually all of the undeveloped areas allow wilderness camping. If you are willing to backpack a bit, there are virtually...
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a non insulated pad, since all pads have some insulating properties. If you mean a non insulated air mattress, which would have the lowest R-value, the answer is...
Already being a very satisfied owner of a Chameleon and Raven hammock, I had no experience with SLD products but had read all the positive reviews from owners. Because of this, when I was wanting to...
This is how i feel, also. I don't purchase newly released products and go with tested, proven products. The Kammock Mantis may be a fine product but having owned and used a Chameleon for some time, I...
It looks interesting. I think the concept of layering the Apex on the outer part of the quilt is sound and may have merit. I, too, am intersested in seeing how it performs in real world conditions.
Does it have the side panel pulls?
The UGQ tarps are great tarps. I have a Hanger 11 WB and a Winterdream 11 with panel pulls and door snaps and have been very pleased with them. I highly recommend the door snaps and panel pulls.
The Hammock Gear Journey sells for a nice price but you must be adding options to the UGQ that you didn't list. I ran a quote for a Penny Pincher Winterdream 12 without door snaps and with panel...
I just stuff some clothes into a stuff sack or wrap them up in a fleece pullover.
I also have both these quilts and agree with baldknobber. You can also get the EE quilt even wider if you are large bodied and think you might need it.
I'll take it.
I got a newsletter email from Enlightened Equipment today and they are soon going to offer 3 new tarps. They are constructed of 7d PU coated nylon, are asymmetrical cut and the weights rival cuben...
I am 6'2" and have a wide Chameleon and while I am quite comfortable in it, I believe I could easily get by with it being narrower. I don't have a standard Chameleon to compare it to but I did just...
The Dream Hammock Raven would be another hammock you might consider. It's similar to your Chameleon and the Trail Lair. I have a Chameleon Wide in HexonW 1.6 and a Dream Hammock Raven in 1.7 Roebic...
There are multiple campsites on the island within 3-4 miles of the ferry dock. If you use them. you can stay on the south end of the island and have fairly short hikes. You can also mountain bike on...
I use the TNH Outdoors tri-beam stakes and have no complaints at all. They are available from Amazon for $20 for 10 and are much better quality than the cheap Chinese stakes. That said, I also use...
3 day & night hike around Grand Island, MI on the rim trail. Plenty of time to explore the interior trails. Very scenic.Met some nice folks. Easy to get to. Inexpensive. Johnny Dogs in Munising.
I used the Spider Web 1.5 straps with a becket hitch most of the summer, including two, 3 day backpacking trips. I weigh 260 and had no problems with slippage. The knot is a little tough to release...
I am in total agreement with this. A hammock is great on the trail but in my house, I want my comfy king size mattress.
UGQ makes an excellent winter tarp, also. An added feature is their Winter Dream tarp has snaps on the doors.
The short answer is yes. The longer answer is you can make it work but it will require some fiddling around with adjustments, like others have already stated. You will probably eventually find it a...
I attach like cmc4free. Shug's method without the mini-biners. I don't use any shock cord because I don't feel it's needed because of the the natural give in the fly and flexibility of the poles....

I have two, olive green Skeeter Beater Pro Hammocks for sale. I bought these last summer for my boys to use camping with me but it never happened. They have only been set up inside, on a stand, to...
I'll take it.
I have only been hammock camping for the last year and a half but I have seam sealed a lot of silnylon tarps and tents over the last 10 years. I, too, believe thinning the silicone with mineral...
I used the Spider Web 1.5 straps all summer, including a couple of 3 night backpacking trips, and I would echo everything blue indian said. I am 6'2" & 260 lbs and they held me without a hiccup. It...
I am biased because I own a wide Chameleon and it is a terrific hammock. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite between it and my Dream Hammock Raven in 1.6 HyperD-XL. I do really like the 1.6...
Yeah, whether it is duck or goose down has no influence on the functionality. The fill power is what matters.
Burrow is sold.
I noticed the HG zippered bug net hammock is no longer listed on their web site. Anyone know why?
26.5 oz on my scale without the stuff sack.
10 degree HG Econ Burrow for sale. Regular length(72"). Wide width(55"). Sewn foot box. Dark Olive outer. Charcoal grey inner. Regular fill. No overstuff. 26.5 oz on my scale without the stuff sack....
Burrow is sold.
I think all the packaged silicone products are too thick for easy application. For years, I have used any good, 100 % silicone product thinned with mineral spirits to the point where it all runs off...
Burrow still available
Just weighed it on my scale. Right at 18 oz.
The 40 degree long wide Econ Burrow is still available. Sewn footbox and standard fill with no overstuff. As stated previously, this quilt was received new in May and has never been used.

In a comment on the Facebook Hammock Hangers Flea Market page, the maker of these quilts says they are modified down throws. I'm not suggesting this makes them a bad investment for the price but it...
