as long as the tato stand is 9 feet long, it's fine
Use chrome and let it translate it for you
interesting that they've added some heavier weight options for those of us that are a bit heavier
The warbonnet wooki is probably the best example
why?
if the spacing is closer, you can use whoopie at one end, and just use your continuous loop to the tree strap on the other side
you don't HAVE To use whoopies on both sides ever, if you...
well, the issue (in my eyes) is that when your suspension/hang isn't ideal, the ridgeline will absorb a lot of the excess forces, rather than have the hammock do it
in this case, it'll apply those...
oh I know, it's supposed to be similar to a hammock, you whip manually, and pull/gather it unevenly
strategically of course
looking at the finished product, doesn't seem like anyone notices,...
I felt like he did address that
He said there was nothing special about it, just a rectangle of fabric
yikes, looks like a mess
ridgeline sewn to the hammock, not suspension, and the bugnet zippers look awful
bunch of reasons
plastic in the cold (you want this for winter, no?) is generally not awesome
you need to leave a vent open anyway, so that you're not trapping all the moisture you exhale
...
I would absolutely not put a plastic window on it....
I'd be awfully tempted to just put a solid cover over it, leaving a bit of a open bit, like you described
not gonna lie, I laughed, then went out and tried it with my jeep ;)

Yeah 20 bucks is really reasonable for that
I really love this tarp Jared made. it's just fantastic
Center pole mod can easily accomplished just with beastie dees and a pole. Cordage to keep it steady seems optional. Havent needed it with mine
I've got a klymit pillow x that I really like a lot more than I expected
yup, only time I've had a puddle on my mat was a 90+ afternoon nap at the lake
It definitely seems like an easy add on
that does sound like the easiest way to make it happen.
exped makes nice pads, for sure
I'm got the synthetic version (synmat 9). they fill out the pocket of the draumr very nicely
i think step one is just to see if you can match the zipper somehow. if you can't do that, you'll need to find a new way to make it work
does the new bugnet completely unzip? I thought it was still attached at one point like the original Draumr...
I'd originally rigged up a sock style, with part of a Costco quilt, that you...
you're not going to find a gathered end that's stomach sleeping flat (unless it's absolutely massive)
side sleeping is doable with strategic pillow placement
for true stomach sleeping, the...
I've been struggling with this one too
I'd love to see some actual testing to prove it one way or the other
generally, conduction is WAY more efficient than convection, so I'm not sure why...
I am a stomach sleeper, the Draumr is a godsend for this reason.
there's that new kickstarter, the Haven Tent, which is kind of what you're describing. it's kinda a mashup of an Amok Draumr, and a ridgerunner
i just hang mine over the bar in my closet

i'm really happy with mine too. the ability to sleep in whatever position you want is such a luxury, and being able to adjust the tension/support in a few different spots makes it really awesome to...
an air matt is at least 5-10 times more comfortable than a foam matt.
much prefer it for sleeping
I wouldn't treat it a ton differently, to be honest
they're usually 11-12 foot from end to end, with 8ish feet that is "bed"
I just hang mine as if it's a regular gathered end, and then call it...
you really need a good winter rated pad. when it's ridiculous cold out, I also add a wool blanket inside the draumr to sleep on, just to give the extra shoulder coverage. I've never had issues...
yup, I have to admit, I'd really like to give it a try.
If you dont need the xl size, then dont
Xl NEEDS their fjol, the regular can use any appropriate pad
Fjol is a decent pad, at a decent price.
the new draumr has a boot shelf too, which seems odd to me as well.
the poles I suspect will work just as well as every other bridge style hammock. they're not really a new innovation
it's 5 lbs, all in, give or take.
i'm not crazy about the non-standard air pad tho
but it's really grabbed my attention

It looks like an amok draumr and a ridgerunner had a baby
I suspect it will be not a backpacker, but it looks interesting as a...
CDT

Or just use a wool afghan on the inside of it. compression is a non-issue with wool
worst case scenario, you can carry extra 2 inch tree huggers, and just larks head suspensions onto those. you'd only need a couple feet for each end
the loaded pic..........it looks like you're in a very deep bath tub
their stuff is neat, somewhat over engineered
it comes across (to me) as more base camp gear, than backpacking/hiking gear, if that makes sense?
I was kinda thinking the same thing
it's at least DIFFERENT, and cut in a way that maybe solves a problem for some folks. for under $25, wouldn't be the worst gamble
difference in stretch in the fabrics used would likely account for the difference
I'd be curious to see one. it really looks like a modified CDT, but that may be just cause of the super similar colour
the pattern it's cut into is pretty neat though
I'm a huge proponent for the Amok Draumr, when back sleeping isn't your first choice
side or stomach is pretty great in it (back is just fine too!)
bridges can be pretty good for side sleepers...
he's the only guy I've seen swap the straps for whoopies on his Draumr too
I chatted with him about it, and he felt he straps always stretched on him over night
I can't say I've noticed, but...
Draumr entrance was super smooth, nice demonstration
however, that also reiterated to me, why a quilt in a hammock > sleeping bag.
man that looked fiddly, yet i bet still no where near as...
side saddle is demonstrated usually with the ergo combi videos I believe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaJmnGk6MHk
look at the pics on the website
it looks like an external toggle that you attach THRU a closed cell foam matt, that keeps everything in place
$90 to beta test a 40-50 degree underquilt still seems....high
maybe i'm out to lunch, I wouldn't suspect a lot of 50 degree underquilts are out in the wild to begin with
