I wrote a chapter and verse analysis of IL State Park/DNR rules in the 50 State Project thread. Hammocks are allowed in IL if you stay at an official campsite and do not damage the trees.

I have a BA Fishhawk 30* bag that I use in the hammock. I have used a ccf pad in the sleeve. It worked OK, but then I got an underquilt and never went back. I still use the bag as a topquilt.

The F-I-L is OK. He's 88. He had a subdural hematoma a couple years ago after a similar fall and ended up having brain surgery. Now, when he falls we always get him fully...

OK, so we are looking at temps from 30* down to 0*. Winds NW 20MPH.
