This is simular what you are trying. I have made these for my niece and nephew and they are cheap and easy

I did this but not sure how good it would be for a windy rain. I used 2 sets of hiking poles. It's a Superfly.

I have a few stands for my single hammock. And I've seen the pergola type outdoor stand. I've been Googling for a while but what I'm looking for is something like metal swing set material to set up...
Just wondering if amsteel on amsteel of the continuous loop near loop 1 would have the same small radius pressure on the amsteel like with issues experienced with the speed hook, if not, this is a...
Does the spreader bar want to walk up the suspension at all? Or do the caraniners keep it on the amsteel loops?

I have been testing the same 3/8 Kevlar mule tape. Seems like it might be just too narrow and slippery. I had it slip on me twice today at the Becket hitch location. It tore up the mule tape and...
I think that this is a great price point and option, especially for beginners. I recently made several hammocks for family and had to order something similar from an online "store". You can still use...
This a funny topic in my family, I started getting much nieces and nephews into off the ground camping. For the longest time they would say ham Mock, but after being around me showing them how to use...
I tried pinning but for some reason the material keeps shifting on me and my pins fall out. This was just my quick lazy alternative
I have been making a few bottom entry bugnets out of sheer curtains and it can be a pain to sew. It stretches and slides. So I have been measuring, chalking a line, and using Elmer's school glue on...
That's sweet! Their very own mobile A frame and porch too.

I was just out in San Jose CA for for work. My wife and 1 year old daughter came with too. Low and behold, right by the pool were two palm trees! Of course I strung up my hammock and my daughter...
You would not be able to adjust the angle of legs of the stand

Just finished one today. I used the top rail from my Turtle Dog stand. 6 poles all 5'3". Tested a small tarp over the top rail. If I needed to use a full tarp I would use a longer top rail and...
Welcome Ryan, If you like the Kammok style suspension straps you can get similar polyester ones on amazon for 20 bucks. Otherwise search the forums, there are good DIY whoopie sling tutorials. Have...
I added attachments to the top center of each side of the jarbidge then attached adjustable shock cord to each that attaches to an s-biner on my ridgeline. This seems to help me keep everything...
Wondering if anyone has insight if a continuous loop or dogbone works best for the end of a sewn channel hammock that attaches to dutch biner to whoopie sling suspension?
A set of "grubs" sounds catchy
Anybody see a downfall of shaving down the hook opening just a tad for easier on and off of the hammock end?
Yep, I ended up buying both, we will see which I feel more comfortable with.
DOOH! I was looking at this from work computer and the site was being blocked, darn network security:) I got on the site now, Thanks
Sounds interesting. I like that you can have shorter tree straps and single line of amsteel, cant wait to give them a try when they are ready.
I leave all tie outs on except the ridgelines. I have a stake roll that keeps my stakes, ridgeline tie outs and extra line incase of failures in zip lock bags. I keep each ring of the superfly on a...
Just got my poles yesterday and set it up, I like it.

With two PLs and half of a blue sleep pad I was down to 31 degrees. I did have a very warm top quilt though
Roadmaker, not sure if you were referring to my PLUQ but I sewed grosgrain down the full length sides so it would have some reinforcement when I place a second PL and or blue pad inside. Maybe not...
Just order the jarbidge, hoping it will be an upgrade to my PLUQ.
I just turned to the side to keep my nose semi-insulated. It wasn't too bad. Well worth it to spend the night above ground
The last pic is weird, but I thought it was funny the dry area that was left from my tarp after the nights rain
I went on a camp out with my Son and his Boy Scout Troop and thought I would share. We were at Camp Maywood near Wautoma WI. This is my Son's second year in Boy Scouts and the first time they...
This is what I did today. I have previously made a folded no sew pluq but I really am not a cold weather person and wanted something warmer. So I have a few pl and made a full length PLUQ. I ran...
I think it is rated at 2.2oz per sq oz so you should be safe
Nice job on the set up. I bought some camo fabric at walmart to make a bridge but it was not ripstop it was taslite. Is this what you purchased?

Went with my son's Scout Troop this weekend on one of their weekend camps at Camp Maywood by Wautoma WI. I wanted to test out my No-Sew PLUQ. Overnight temps where 41 Friday and 37 Saturday. I use...
There it is again the magical two pole TDS( 3rd pic down):)

Has anyone tried two 6 foot 2x2s or dowels ridge pole with a 6 foot pvc joiner in the middle? Would that be lighter or not strong enough?
Welcome from OshVegas, Lots of good info on this site
Added one more thing, I added a velcro dot to the lid to keep it back when eating out of the mug. It matches up with the velcro dot that is used to secure the cozy when its folded.
