Looking for info on anyone who did the Timberline Trail last year with hammocks.
Planning a mid Aug hike, want to make sure it is hammock friendly.
Thanks!
I'd be up for that weekend.
That is a bad weekend for me. The weekend before would be better?
I could do a weekend in late May or June.
As promised links to Amazon for the two piece harness I used with my Pulk.

How small do these pack up to? Can you show them side by side with a Nalgene bottle maybe?
The 550 will not work because it is larger diameter than the zingit. The Prusik needs to be the same or smaller to work properly
The way I did what you are doing is I made two small continuous...

So I did a test on long term hammock sleeping in the house. And I dug it, but I had one issue. My wife tole me the hammock was loud, when I got in and out of it.
The issue is we all, the kids, my...
I got a friend in La Salva I just made a hammock for. Let see if can get him on the forum. We did an over night in Germany during a work trip, and he said he didn't NOT like it. [emoji3]
Set a date.
OK So before the new year is prob not going to work. I will toss out a weekend I will be out hanging in Jan, and send the invite and location then.
Looking for anyone who would be interested in a casual hang on my property in Toledo WA.
I have 13 acres, not a ton, but it backs up to a very large tree farm. Essentially 40 miles of trees from...
Also a big fan of Dresden now.
Awesome, I will be back soon to hike more of it.
Also wanted to say, though they were very cautious talking to me about it, I met quite a few locals who were camping in the Park. They just said find the dark woods, of which there were plenty, and...
So I went I hung, I conquered!
We only ended up, due to work restriction, being able to do Stage4. We met TONS of locals as it was a national holiday. On trails I assumed I would only see maybe...
Sol Duc Hot Springs in Washington State. :)
Why the heck is that pic of me upside down?
Sigh
I grew up on the east coast, used to the Oaks, Maples, Pines, etc of the eastern seaboard.
When I got into Hammock camping I was living in TX, trees are generally even smaller in TX than the east...
I'll take #7 the last ugly snake skins, daughter won't care :).
I'll take #3, #5, and #6
I have the second set from 5mm to 1inch rolled hem feet. They work great. Search YouTube for how to vids.
The Costco down throw UQ I just built would work indoors quite well. And it cost me $25 in materials and 2 hrs or less of time.
My DIY Coscto 40-50 degree UQ works on it pretty well. Of course it's only 55 here right now. :)

I used a Dynaglide whoopie sling set on a recent outing. I initially picked two trees that were a just a wee bit too far apart and I did not hang the mule tape tree hugger high enough to compensate....
Even though it's looks very wide, my shoulders were right on the edges, and the mule tape was digging into the edge of my shoulders. I do have a very wide chest and shoulders. I think my jacket is...
Yeah those whoopies were simply convenient. And I do not make my whoppies out of Dynaglide anymore as I have noticed some of mine get "sticky" and the bury does not slide so easy. Not sure why, might...
I just finished my first DIY Bridge hammock. I used HikerDad's Videos, and it worked out fine, I think.
Materials Used:
Body: 1.6 Hyper D Woodland Camo
Side Suspension: Mule Tape left over...
I agree this is narrow, but my daughter is 9 so it will work for her fine.
This is mostly going to be for her sleeping inside, and on the porch in the summer.
I am guessing, and just a guess, my single doubled over will be good for summer only. So down to 50, MAYBE lower with a pad.
All depends on the sleeper, do you sleep warm or cold.
Tension is a pain at first but yes make sure you pay attention to the tension. Tons of videos on Youtube for that. and Easy to get both right and wrong.
I do the same 1/4inch rolled hem on all four edges.
Then I do a single 3/4inch fold, but I do tuck the 1/4 inch hem under and do my first of 3 rows of stitches on that hem.
Then 2 more rows going...
Regardless of the Yeti Group Hang, I am up for more Winter Stuff with Snow. To that end I have started on my Pulk, based on Gary_R's design of course. My plan is to park my Camper trailer at White...

I'm with JB, Snow Good.
From personal experience pull the little bit of down in those throws is not going to be worth the time, IMHO.
What makes more sense to me, and I bought 4 so I will be doing this, is to take one...
Excellent!!, Thanks for that, they also look to have a store in Dresden, we are going to head to Dresden for some Tourist stuff first so that will work out great.
Yeah but I need a store to walk into and buy it onsite, while driving from Airport to Camping.
OK more info needed from you guys, what store do I look for canisters like this; ...
First off, thanks very much for all the advice, lots to think about, and having someone "close" to challenge always helps
OK using these maps a long with GPX files for my GPS to plan.

Obviously I can cover all but the infrared :)
Assuming I am only doing Stage 4 and 5. No time to do more on this trip. Can either of you of point me to maps that show the boundary of the Nature...
Interesting because I read in a few other posts on other forums, from August that people hung quietly off the trail, and as long as they did not light a fire and left no trace they were ok.

What makes you say "no hammock"?
What weather should I expect in late October early November? Temp ranges?
