Just placed an order! I'm 250ish. We'll see....
I know the feeling. 2 surgeries on my right knee in 2015 so no hiking for me but plenty of sleeping in my hammock.
I will be attending. I am an Arkansas guy living in Louisiana. Look forward to it!!
Welcome from the "high country" of North Louisiana! We have a Louisiana group hang coming up in February. There is a link in the trip planning sub forum. Hope to see you there!
I thought that is what you meant. I think the MSH is more for the adjustable part of the whoopie but someone may correct me.
Google "tarp ridge line Derek Hansen " he has some vids and the best...
OK, I am confused. Are you asking how to attach the fixed loop of a whoopie to the tree hugger. If so, then I think your method you show with the metal ring is good. If you are asking about attaching...
That will work fine but when you have this on the loop of a tree hugger, "Rotate" the the line towards the tree hugger loop.
At least thats is the way I learned to do it.
I'm in. Finally going to make it to my first group hang!
Great to see this post still going. Happy Hammock New Year everyone!
It is open and a great way to meet other hangers. I hope to attend this one. From all reports of past ones, a very good time. Welcome to the madness!!
I would vote for Kincaid.
Take a look at www.geauxhammock.com. I started this company earlier this year and I make them myself. Two 12' tree straps are included in the price.
You would probably be OK with a ten foot hammock. I am 6' 1" and use an 11'. My suggestion is try an 11' if at all possible. You might be comfortable in a 10' but even more comfortable in an 11'.
Lake Claiborne would be a good spot. Very nice area. I am biased to northern locations😉
I have found that on standard .9oz no seeum, I can mark with the sharpie and it does not go through to the table or floor. Now that might depend on how hard you are pressing and to be honest, I was...
The best thing I have found is a metalic silver Sharpie. You don't have to apply much pressure to get the mark.
Very nice! I am interested in your corner reinforcement. Did you double over the Xenon to make it twice as thick?
Very very nice!
That is really amazing! Is the zipper sewn into both triangles? Looks like the zipper goes under the triangle where the storage bag is. I have never attempted this but would like to. How is the...
Awesome! I sure hope I can make this one. February works out way better for me than November. Everyone may be tired of Lake Kincade but somewhere in center area of the state is appealing to this...
Thanks! Yes, the thread is Mara 70.
Haha, well I don't know if my mind qualifies for great, it just stumbles onto some good ideas now and then. Your RLO organizer looks awesome!
I thought I would share my simple RLO. One problem I have had with my earlier versions was the RLO sliding together when items are put in.
First I cut .9 oz no see-um approx 18"x19". I then roll...
Sorry, I ment to include that. All components and fabric from RipStop By The Roll.
This NON Scientific test was done to test the fabric to some degree but mainly to test my stitching on the hammock channel ends as well as the suspension.
First, hammock is a single layer 11' 1.9...
Very, very nice. I applaud all people who have the "engineering gene" I on the other hand was shorted on that particilar building block. Just awesome!!
Not sure if you gave your height but one word of "free" advice. An 11 foot hammock is much more comforDCctable (for most IMO) than a nine or ten foot.
A DIY double layer hammock can be made for...
Nice trip! I have found as I get older, the being outside, the preparation for the hunt and being with family is really reward enough. If I get a deer, thats a bonus.
I bet the Death Star sample was cloaked making it invisible. 😄😄😄
What is the length of your hammock?
For laying out and marking/cutting large pieces of fabric, I go to my son's school in the evenings and use their practice gym. I have also used a large fellowship room at our church. It is not the...
Very nice. The 1.6 oz XL is a great feeling material! Enjoy!
Yes, I am not of fan of seams in the hammock body either. I have also found that my 11' hammocks with the normal 60" width are easy to get the diagonal lay in as well. Kyle at...
I read your earlier post and welcome to the forums. I emailed Kyle at RSBTR and asked him if he had a weight rating on the 2.2 oz HEX70 XL. He said 400 lbs for sure but felt like it...
I attached a full picture. It looks (and is) heavy duty but I love being able to go with one layer. I just now got my wife out of it so I could give it a tryout. I have hammocks...
Here is a full picture.
5 yds 2.2 oz Dark Olive HEX70 XL
9 ft 1/16" shock cord
8 micro cord locks
30 ft 1" black polyester webbing (1500 lb)
2 cinch buckles
1 spool Gutterman thread
I have made three. All without cat cuts. I really like the material and IMO cat cuts are completely unnecessary.
Good luck and let us see your progress.
Now if RipStopByThe Roll had their on vendor theead. LOL.
Well that is pretty slick!! Nice job!
Really nice!! Congrats!
That looks sweet!! Congratulations on the tarp...and the vacation!
The brand is GEAUX Hammock. It is a company I started earlier this year. I have been selling these locally for the past 2 years and decided to label them and create a website. Have a few...
Just a nice Thursday evening in Louisiana.
Thanks Usadave! I thought I had heard that but would like to know why is it recommended that way? I have threaded from the top and bottom with equal success but would like to understand the why...
Sorry about the pictures! So if your strap is coming from the tree, do you slide the slider all the way forward, thread the strap down from the top, slide bar back then, thread tag end back through...
How do you thread your strap?114664http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/23/cd30caa24c7a9aa2b4d3eb4788f49b34.jpgOver the sliderbar or under? And do you think there is an advantage either way?
Just a quick suggestion. I noticed in the picture that your amsteel(?) Is looped around your cinch buckle 4 (?) Times. I wrap mine 7 to try to eleminate any space between the amsteel and the edge of...
Are these polyester straps? I know nylon straps have stretch issues but I have not experienced it with polyester straps.
I always tie the half hitch just in case. I have used other suspensions but...
My playlist is all over the place. Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin to Hank Jr and Johnny Cash and other country music. Some classical some instrumental, southern rock etc...
