Welcome... from just a bit further west of you in Hutchinson.
So far, most of my hammocking has been local, backyard and the BWCA. With Empty-Nester-Hood approaching, I've got plans to start...
Great info... picts may help... I too am a beetle buckle user for gathered end hammocks. Do not have a bridge hammock yet.
What I'm not clear on is what you get with "continuous loops only" on the...
Well... have I reached critical mass? Since getting into hammock camping in a big (read expensive) way these past 3+ years.. this is the 1st year I wasn't pulling the trigger on a number of items...
Thanks... decided to order both and return one...
Looking for other Fjallraven Vidda Pro trouser wearers.. I'm thinking of getting my 1st pair for hiking / hammocking.
I'm 6'3", 195 lbs and wear 33" waist x 34" inseam in most pants. The size...
Welcome ... the BWCA is one of my favorite places to hammock camp!
Enjoy the journey... HYOH!
I'm a big fan of UGQ's Winter Dream w/ internal end pole mod... with regards to your wind question, the internal poles do change how you approach wind.
Because the stake lines also set the width,...
Exactly..... 1 oz to 1.3 oz heavier depending upon which silpoly fabric !!!!
Still my favorite tarp !!
12' vs 11' -- I have the 12' for an 11' hammock.. Would 11' tarp have been enough? yes. As I do most of my usage w/ low miles or via canoe or in back yard, I like...
Nice picts! I've also used mine when I'm away from camp in the BWCA figured it both lessened the likelihood of nosey critters and tucks things up / out of the way should weather worsen while away...
Here's a graphic that's right from >>Dutch's site...<<
Yup! That was it..... Looks like that's what Dutch was specifying for attaching his whoopie-hook to a hugger.
Thanks for finding / sending that graphic.

I know I've seen a variation / type / improvement of Lark's heading a tree-hugger end-loop to a loop on the end of an Amstreel strand or whoopie sling.
But, I can't seem to find it... I'm trying a...
Thanks for the data... that's the setup I was envisioning.
Wow... I thought my Winter Dream w/ internal end pole mods was palatial at 116" wide... 138" wide !!! Could setup an entire camp along side the ol' hammock. :)
Looks good !
I'm currently using Dutch Beetle Buckles w/ the straps he sells for it, precisely because I kept running into BWCA situations w/ trees too close. I use my whoopies at home. I don't currently do...
Love that color !! What is it?
Yes, tarp line.... I use Dutch Stingerz attached to each end of the tarp.... do not use a continuous ridgeline for the tarp. The line shown goes through a tarp sleeve from SLD to a WD 12 tarp.
...
My tarp is pictured in the 1st thread shared here..... maybe the 2nd ?? (didn't look through 5 pages of posts)
Summary:
1) Door snaps are very, very nice in driving rains.
2) I'm a HUGE fan of...
Statics... Love it !!! Good thoughts on countering the two moments! One of my favorite engrg classes 30yrs ago!!
As I posted above, just following your post... I hang my whoopies right from...
Although I never saw the bending you did (mine bowed maybe 4-6")... I think my top rail of 2 fence post sections are 7' each... I strengthened the center joint section w/ about a 2' piece of aluminum...
Wish I could be there on Friday as well !! Will be working w/ my son on his Eagle Scout Project on Fri night... so hustling up there for a quick day on Saturday.
Looking forward to seeing...
All great responses !!
1) I try to wear clean / fresh clothes in the hammock.... wanting to not only help w/ bears, but also to help keep my gear fresh and ... it just feels good :) !
2) I'm a...
Anybody going to the Winter Camping Symposium this weekend (10/24-27) , at YMCA Camp Miller, near Sturgeon Lake, MN ?
It's not a hammock event, but more general Winter Camping event... lots of...
A "Wench" hammock might be more interesting :lol:
Another fan of the Nemo Fillo -- Air chamber and a foam layer for comfort... great, adjustable 'fill' for the hammock with the added comfort of the foam layer.
My favorite hammock pillow.
If you're still interested in other colors... there's several of mine - Fern Green Outside / Burnt Orange inside in This Thread <<<
and.. direct from Warbonnet -- Gallery <<
Love it so far !!!
UGQ also offers Fast Trak -- ships 2/3 days.
You've got a good list started... HG, UGQ, Jacks-R-Better .....
Mine is the same as all the others, so I assume it was a design decision from a respected company and will leave it at that.
I can see how you questioned it.
Note, there is what appears to be...
I'll try to remember to look at mine this weekend... Worth saying... I LOVE this thing so far !! Great quilt !!!
Thanks for sharing... I recognize one of those !! :) Fern Green and Autumn Orange !!
Hit 40deg for a low last night... was glorious night to try out the new 20deg Warbonnet Diamonback..... keep fall going all the way to Thanksgiving !!!
Long periods of 60's for a high and 30's to...
Yes, you could make a regular rainbow... I tried not to 'stripe' it up too much ! I do like how Shug's turned out however... he mixed and matched a little more than I.
Here's my 20deg Diamondback... Finally getting cold enough to use.
Have only slept in it one night this far, so I'll refrain from reviewing... But, it was glorious!
Most of my other stuff is...
I understand what you are saying... and I'm making it work... just don't find it as convenient for me as the 2 piece... part of it is the less 'bunchable' material of the mesh vs the thin ripstop.
...
The little loop on the small end of the SLD design solves this problem.. I keep it locked to the end of the tarp and the tarp cannot then slip out of or away from the end of the skin.
But... it also...
I've got two tarps, both with skins from Simply Light Designs (although my experience would be the same had they come from any other vendor).
1st one I bought was custom built by Jared for me a...
Definitely a HYOH area... here's what I have found I like (and maybe it's because it's the 1st thing I tried ? ) ....
I use a zippered pouch about 6 x 8 that's divided down the center for two 6/8...
A few thoughts / experiences:
1) Tarp Tensioners Shug posted a link to help
2) Tarp Coverage -- I've never been able to stay dry in swirling winds with just a hex tarp (no doors)... So, I love my...
MuaDale; The picture I shared... directly above your question... IS from Dutch's release photos. I have not received my banana hammock(s) yet.... ordered one for me and am sending another to my...
Shared the picture of it with my daughter.... She loved it, so I just purchased another shipped to her for her birthday :)
So much for this month's discretionary funds !

Ordered mine this morning... w/ the spliced Mantis for use as my lounging hammock (conversation starter  ) with daisy chain webbing. Added a structural ridgeline & clip on peak shelf (to hold...
A favorite !!
I haven't started any planning.. just a bucket list item... but in this day and age... My thought was I'd have to plan around towns / parks or Stealth if outside of a town.
Without a doubt UQ FIRST !! Sleeping bag works just fine unzipped like a TQ until you can justify a TQ. Pads suck!
I've never had that problem with either a 2-piece nylon or 1 piece mesh from Simply Light Designs. Both have cord-locks w/ very small diameter cord on the larger ends which once cynched down, do...
I'm exactly the same height / weight as you. Never had an XLC, but have had a double layer (thinking the same as you, that I'd start with a pad) and now switched to single layer.
Pads suck, even...
Ditto - On my 20deg TQ, I started out with a drawcord / snap design. NO complaint about the zipper / snap section, but the drawcord will leave an opening. At < 30 deg, the opening is felt. I did...
I have a Chameleon - Asym. I sleep either head left on my back or on either side. The Asym net does not restrict my sleeping. For reference I'm 6'2" 195lbs.
I rarely use the tie-outs. They are...
Same w/ Jared at Simply Light Designs.... I've warmed up my credit card plenty at both places! .... and have had Fronkey's from both.
