I use a 24 oz Sawyer bottle with a DIY Martin's mix. It makes easy work of measuring out the concentrate.
Thanks for the quick response.
Does anybody know if the glitter is the active Permethrin ingredient?
After the garments dry the flecks brush right off.
Is there enough Permethrin left on the...
Are the glitter flecks on my garments the active ingredient, and does the DIY application really bond to the treated fabric? I have been using Permethrin for 5 years and suspect the flecks are the...
I haven't been keeping up with this thread for awhile. After reviewing some of the latest posts I found @OneCick's post enlightening because I store my Martin's under similar conditions.
A month...
Another late post. First off I don't camp much when/where I have to worry about snow loads but got the WD12 for more wind protection after one particularly cold-rainy-windy trip in the clouds at...
I also am interested and put it on my calendar. I'll ask my brother who got me into hanging several years back if he is interested. I don't do much FB and have turned off notifications so hopefully...
It was a great time. It was before W Washington got hammered with smoke so there was some spectacular scenery.

When I was using a pad in my Clark GE I used a Segmented Pad Extender.

The wings helped anchor the pad under the...
We heard reports of a death and at least two injuries/lost packs at the ford of the West Fork White River two days before we would encounter the crossing so our plan changed to a one way trip from...
The last I heard (couple yrs ago now), Washington State Parks don't allow hammocks. There may be, but I'm not aware of private campgrounds in the area other than KOA style RV-tent parks, that don't...
By golly it's about time! Thanks for the Link!! I honestly believe I have better side to side coverage at both ends but I'm sure glad someone decided to serve the Clark market with a quality quilt.
Last week I did a 3-day trip to the Alpine Lakes Wilderness in the Washington Cascades. The weather was very warm; mid 80s during the day and only cooled to 55 at night. I had spray soaked my hat,...
Quite awhile ago I had posted some pics about ways to secure an underquilt to a Clark.
Here is my first iteration. It sealed OK but reduces the quilt's coverage by about a foot overall, and it just...
I tried an adjustable 1.1 mm Reflex (reflective; won't garrote myself in the dark) UHMWPE non-structural ridgeline and think it's going to meet 90% of my objectives. It's adjusted so it is slightly...
I don't think non-Clark owners appreciate how great it is to have storage for larger items like extra clothing and clothes to wear the next morning snugly between the user and an underquilt without...
Counterclockwise 40 Mile loop with stays at Sunrise Camp (to get an early start the next day for), Mystic Lake, Carbon Camp (Cataract Creek), Lake James, Berkeley Park camps. All appear to be...
I was on a 5 day car camping trip close to Mount Adams (Washington Cascades) in 2015 where there were a couple of pretty odd sounds each night. One was a long high and distinct monotone (I'll call it...
Sockwa Playa Hi camp shoes can go into the bottom pockets between the hammock bed and the UQ. Trail runners or hiking boots are bulky enough that they can compress the down so they are put directly...
After a 22 year hiatus from backpacking and mountaineering, then a hip replacement, I wanted to start backpacking into high lakes and streams to fly fish, but I didn't want to sleep on the ground...
Just ordered some Martin's, $15 on Amazon Prime. I'll try it.

Indeed, there are 5% pharmaceutical grade creams and sprays and I had used the Sawyer spray for a couple of years without a problem. But a DIY 0.5% dilution of 10% Durvet for barns and...
Thanks! I'm not concerned about a diluted Permethrin solution permanently damaging the membrane, but possibly decreasing it's performance. Also Gore-Tex face fabrics have a DWR treatment.
5% would probably make you very sick. 0.5% doesn't hurt my nylon hammock & shirt, or nylon spandex stretch trousers. I wouldn't use it on GoreTex rainwear or on a DWR finish .
Sent from my...
The Sawyer Permethrin used for direct application to clothing is 0.5%. At one point I used half that strength for mixing from a 10% concentrate because I had a reaction to the 0.5% diluted mix and...
Another user of Litesmith Reflx tarp guyline with UHMWPE fiber core, and has a hivis Polyester cover with reflective tracers so knots won't slip; 1.5mm for the ends and 1.1 mm for the side guyouts. ...
Got a Massdrop email today that featured these straps. 50% off is a better discount than I see for much of the Massdrop opportunities I am interested in. I sprang for a pair of 1600s.
I am very happy to see your response, and receive another another great tip from you. Hope all is with you and yours.

It's been a looong time but back in my climbing days, a rule of thumb for temps at altitude in the Cascade Range was -3°F for every thousand feet above sea level. And yes, the high humidity makes...
I would love to be wrong but the last I heard Washington State Parks has a "do not hang anything from trees" rule. It could be at the discretion of the head Ranger or caretaker but call ahead to...
Good dispersed camping on most rivers just off NF roads or even highways, and along trails. There is less underbrush at higher elevations and towards the dry side giving more options for sites to...
I rigged out my new silpoly 12' WD in the yard yesterday. I got the dual pole mod. Weight without poles is just 2 ounces more than my10x10 catenary cut rectangular tarp, but with poles installed...
They are fiberglass rods used for fishing cabling through walls and come in a clear plastic tube. The individual 12 1/2" (including the fittings) rods connect with screw-in brass fittings. I think I...
Old thread but I just got a set of the 13" rods and found 4 (+) vinyl - rubber end caps in my parts doodads bins that fit snugly. These are going to work nicely.

Cool, Thanks! I haven't had a chance to hang it yet but I am pre-making the guylines.
I made four 7' corner guylines with 10" inline shock cord tensioners that have about a foot of takeup, and...
I recently purchased a WD 12 with 4 pullouts to use with my Clark NX-250 on sale. What's a suggestion for guyline lengths. I haven't used or felt the need for a continuous ridgeline with my 10 ft...
I got a WD12 as suggested by Paul @ UGQ with the dual end poles for my NX250 during their Black Friday sale. I also got enough Reflx 1.5mm reflective Spectra core guyline and 5/32 reflective shock...
That looks like a real nice quilt. My UGQ Zeppelin has the mitten rings that line up with the Clark guyouts. I tied shock cord with a mitten hook and toggle lock to each of the 4 Clark guyouts to...

Ok, this may seem like a dumb question but I have to ask. The WD has snaps on the doors to close them. When I close a snap on my trousers, I am using my fingers on opposite sides of the snap to seat...
I think I am getting ready to pull trigger on that 12' Winter Dream in the low stretch and light weight membrane silpoly(ester), with the dual end-pole mod and 4 panel pulls as a retirement gift to...
I got a little news from UGQ about underquilts.
Hey Brian,
No problem sharing the email on HF, may help out some other folks.
We now own a NX-250 so you should be seeing a dedicated UQ in the...
I asked UGQ about their Winter Dream tarp for a Clark NX-TX. Also got a little news about underquilts.

There are a couple of "positive" reviews that "reading between the lines" brings up durability; specifically puncture resistance.

I haven't tried it but I suspect a DWR treatment on a garment would shed the mixture and it would not be effective. I do treat around the zipper of my Clark hammock and have been left blissfully...
Yup, I agree. But the symptoms occurred from a day to a week after spraying the clothing, with the garments being completely dry. That's why I asked about the possible use of a binder by Sawyer to...
