Worthington state forest is gorgeous. Alot of great trails, and nice campsites. Right by the water but not too close where you get eaten alive by mosquitoes.
kid friendly. maybe ill do a quick course on primitive fire making? that would be a fun project for the kids!
Hello there. My wife and I have shared a warbonnet superfly on many instances during our backpacking trips. We've tied hiking poles to our ridgelines to act as a spreader bar. We're both using...

Thanks for the trip report. Here are a few random pics, in no random order since I haven't finished the album yet
Diana signs us in at the start!
Once you guys have a date figured out, my wife and I are in for this hang. We would be willing to cook, too.
Hey guys. If there are seats available, diana and I will join
welcome to the forums. where were you originally from?
Same thing happened with my wife and I! "My" thunderbird is now "her" thunderbird. Where abouts in north jersey are you? We're in parsippany
welcome from north jersey. we're pretty active, so be sure to keep your eye out on the trip planning forum
welcome. there are NJ people who try to get out twice a month. Keep your eye out in the trip planning forum
My wife covers herself head to toe with her topquilt every single time. And every time i ask her about condensation, she tells me she hasn't noticed anything. No wonder she sleeps so well!
Here are some pics, in a random order.
Nice meeting you guys, and nice seeing familiar faces.
PBTB's method for drying...
good question. What would be good to bring? Cake is on order for pbtbs b-day.
I'm uncertain as to what time we'll be arriving - it's a 120 mile trip in rush hour. Hoping to get there before...
From what I remember , sites 1 and 2 had over a dozen hang spots each.
Here's a pic of site 2 :
Plenty of spots to hang!!!
11 is quite a hike to campsites 1 & 2 from what I remember. The last time we were at bodine field, silentorpheus and myself noted that 11 is super windy since it's right by the water. It's a...
R. I. P. piggies
R. I. P. my digestive system after the weekend!
Change of plans : We're looking to arrive friday night. So we'll be around sat. if paddlers are needed.
Looks like only a few folks are staying friday night, if so I'd be willing to bring dinner...
Hey mike! We're planning to cook 3 racks at around 13-15 per rack.
We're also bringing cake for PBTB'S BIRTHDAY BASH IN THE WOODS
mike no need to get racks for us bud, we already purchased some. We'll be there in the AM!
Ok, sounds good. We removed ourself from the paddler list. We'll be there early sat. am at bodine field. What campsites did we get?
We're thinking about arriving saturday morning at the campsites. If you guys paddle on saturday, what time will yall arrive at bodine?
crab cakes out in the forest? yeeeah right.
we can do ribs in our dutch oven. There's a dry rub recipe we like to use.... doused in some guiness its amazing
We can bring a dutch oven if we're paddling. Let us know what you want us to make!
I kind of want to make cinnamon rolls with bacon in the middle
Count diana and myself in. We're able to paddle if theres enough room/equip. for us.

that guide gear tarp saved our asses!!!!!!!
Here's the post that kept silvr's AMAZING guide gear tarp up, and inadvertently caught on fire.
It was a fireball. If i hadn't leapt out of the way, I wouldn't have a face! Im sure he didn't realize how big the fireball would be....
Good seeing you guys as usual, and nice to meet you krust. Here's a few pics of our originally selected site 11 (which was reserved for the paddlers )
We'll bring a few pots as well for heating water. Gotta have our hot nalgenes! - Diana
We can bring Styrofoam/paper plates and I think we have some plastic utensils...not much, but better than nothing if we run out - Diana (too lazy to log out of Chris183's account).
Spring needs to get here now!
I plan on bringing two bundles of wood for cooking purposes as well.
We're bringing cheesy chicken casserole
Ok, thank you for the great pics and detailed instructions. Change of plans though, the double digit temps has encouraged Diana to join us. 1 more to the roster please!
so the beaver branch canoe landing is where we turn in to go to the parking area at the campground?
hahah no my wife does
I drive a little mitsubishi
thanks for the reassurance. i get nervous with my little putt putt car. I have that turn into the campsite off chatsworth road all programmed into my nav.
No, sorry I didn't clarify. I have a deep 12qt that will fit 2 batches worth!
Is the camp entrance off chatsworth road marked? I hope my wee little car can make it in there
Yeah it's got veggies. Two batches should technically be 8 servings. Another main course would be great, just in case i fail miserably at making the stuff.
Im thinking of making cheesy chicken casserole in the dutch oven. I have a feeling we're gonna have more food than necessary.
Ok. I'm in. It will just be me attending.
I'd like some extra info on the campsite. Do you require my license plate? Is it a parking lot, or do you drive into the campsite like batona?
jacksrbetter has an 11 ft wide/12 ft long tarp if i'm not mistaken!!
