What is the best tool to thread the bury - I am on my second time, and frayed the amsteel too much the first time?

Great thread - thanks, is there any information that combines this with a locked brummel to have the loop as a larks head? Looking at over all length of the raw amsteel for a 6 - 8 foot whoopie.
