Sooooo I just realized all my cobbler fixins' were on the table at home. Totally zoned on that.
FREE CUSTOM FISHING ROD Giveaway is still open to attendees. Post the word "hammock" to the site...
Thank you Sir.
Love this tarp.
Have an Old Man Winter with the center pole mod. Never bought the center pole.
Have come into possession of an extra long Easton pole, figure I can mod it to fit.
Looks like the bottom of...
Another great weekend!
Good to meet the new folks and thanks to those that traveled a distance.
Shout out to Great Big Dave and son for stopping by and offering assistance and to Moose for the...
We are good on the shuttles, thanks for the offer. If you get a chance, stop by the camp and say hi. Plenty of folks to meet and gear to check out.
Sorry, was out celebrating the outstanding women of Burlington county tonight. Check my twitter feed lol.
I always bring food to cover myself just in case. I'll probably grab a hoagie tomorrow. My...
The width absolutely is an issue. Have had to go with a 3 or more piece design to get what I want.
Also, durability and packability are a concern. Looking forward to the updates.
I will be demo'ing some new gear at this hang, shakedown cruise style. Rain will be a good test.
There is a chance to enter a free giveway for a custom fishing rod that I will announce Saturday.
Aaaahhhh that whacky Dutch sense of humor.
So if anyone else has a parasitic or vestigial twin sprout overnight, please post up.
I will be checking the spreadsheet and making a...
Drive towards the river, make a right through the guard rail, we are in sites 1,2,4 and probably a couple others.
Friday is is site 2.
I will need a final head count for Friday by tomorrow...
I'm sure you realize it, but for the record, I' going to remind you just how lucky you are. /jealous
Around here I can hit the stockers in the head with a caddis or stone fly and nothing....
Friday is feed yourself. (Though we often share anyway)
Saturday dinner is planned. Money will be expected to cover cost of campsite and Sat dinner food.
Sunday breakfast we usually have plenty...
Need clarification on this. If you are going to hang from the channel, triple stitched is a good idea and stitch length matters. Folks had mentioned this to me before but the first, and only, time a...
Well then, see everyone this weekend.
And hey, if anyone is passing through Toms River on Saturday, there are a couple seat backs that could be picked up. The seller is only willing to meet...
Before the next trip, our website will be up exactly so this banter does not bury the planning. I mean, if all this jibber jabber ends up costing me a pound of bacon because of poor food planning,...
Uh, yeah, bring dinner.
I was just gonna burn some meat or do a bag meal, but you know me, I'm easy.
We should be there by the time you arrive, if not, Site #2
Check this out,...
Yep I see your point, have never owned a boat with molded seats before. My solution would be to throw a seat pad down or wrap a foam pad around the seat. Maybe even grab a couple of those padded seat...
Could use some more pics of some of the products, winter sock and bug net for example. Maybe some video walk around. You know, in your spare time I mean. haha Nice to see the...
For example, the spreadsheet currently shows 16 paddlers and 19 seats but some of the 19 are 3rd seats in a canoe. Less than ideal but usable. Current boat count would work well with the number of...
Kayaks work well on these rivers.
Paddling a 17' canoe solo is no big deal. Sit in the bow and spin the boat around, your weight will be more centered. No worries. Been doin it since I was a kid....
7/64 is 8 Strand. It is Class II
All others in that chart are 12 Strand.
The note at the bottom of the chart provides the detail. As is often the case, the devil is in the details.
Hey, I'm scared of heights.
Really appreciate the video, thanks.
What were they hitting? Were you matching a hatch or just throwing some old standbys?
I seriously need to head west for some real fishing. Tired of stockies...
Climashield Apex comes in several weights. I have used the Apex 6 (6oz/sq yd) and had it well below 30 and was comfortable.
Apex 7.5 is now out for an even lower temp rating.
For Friday we have site #2
Because there won't be anyone else in the area and we have sites 1,2 and 4 for Saturday, you would be alright spreading out a little. We are also picking up a couple...
2, 4 and I cant remember, 1 maybe. Plus were grabbing some more.
There's always the next one.
I'll be there Friday night, already paid for it. So the wood will be there and I'm planning a decent breakfast for Sat AM.
250 posts and we don't have a plan locked up for Friday? Haha I am soooo turning on the gshha.org website just to coordinate stuff so it doesn't get buried in a thread.
I'm good with chilling and...
You will be missed. Had a little news to share but it can keep. Enjoy the family time.
Trending in the right direction. With luck it will go to 0% precip, which means of course there will be a...
REI has it but it's pricey. Some Army Surplus stores like Harry's or Jax used to. Supplycaptain.com used to be a good online source and of course there are our cottage vendors, many of them carry it....
You'll know if they work after one night in the rain. If you wake up lower to the ground, back to the old drawing board.
Marine grade stuff is often poly, lower stretch, better UV resistance. Can...
There are plenty of ways to DIY what you need/want and it appears you are well into your research for doing just that.
If you get a chance to make it out to a group gathering, it is...
Parachute nylon that is close to 2oz / sq yd with ripstop. Sounds pretty good. In a single layer the parachute stuff stretches quite a bit but matched with the HyperD, should be less stretch.
Bawhahaha that is excellent. Best of luck scoring some great gear! You will be the most well rested shopper for sure. In fact, just make sure you wake up in time.
Ooooooo night paddle !!
Similar weight, weeks upon weeks in a 1.6 HyperD without issue. Fav summer time rig.
Shipping damage was my first thought. Would ask for fabric to be bubble wrapped if shipped overseas.
I use a poncho liner aka woobie.
$10-$20 mil military surplus
The road to Hawkins isn't bad unless it rains during the days leading up to the event. Which at this point seems likely. I can carry 2 canoes or 1 canoe & 2 kayaks. At this point I am bringing 1...
Dude, come on out !!
I pack a dry bag of warm clothes, first one to swim gets to wear them. I too am bringing a thermos of hot drinkables.
Stop by MAHHA and try 20 different types of hammock on for size.
I had the WBBB, have the XLC, and have tried a number of Dream Hammock setups. (along with many others)
Features is one...
Shorts and flip flops.
Of course, then there's the hypothermia. But that's nothing a hot beverage and warm fire can't fix.

Group Site E has been rented for this weekend so we will have company. Good news is, they are all the way at the other end of the camp.
Though I don't put much stock in long range weather...
GT Double works
WBBB Dbl 1.7 works
DIY HyperD 1.6 works
Dutch PolyD works
DIY Tablecloth 2.6 works
A whole bunch of Dream Hammocks work, check out the cool chart they have on the website
Here is a shot with the doors tied back to the outside pullouts. In this case I was using paracord, pre shock cord install.
What Marty said.
I have shock cord tied at each corner of the door. It's long enough to run to the opposite corner, through the D ring (or in my case split ring) and down to the stake. That will...
I loved hanging outside full time. So much more connected to what's going on out there, critters, night time activity, sunrise, the birds, the wind. Enjoy.
