Welcome to the club. If you are already talking underquilt, there's no going back now, don't try. You can't escape it , just embrace it.
My method is longer tree straps. 8 foot straps with whoopies. If the straps are too long they easily will wrap 2 or 3 or more times around the tree to take up the extra.
Just one less thing for me...

We just did the south loop last weekend for the first time. Really nice place but the camp area was over full. (Camp d). Plenty of water though. And still really good time.
I know you guys have been losing sleep over this so I thought I had better put an end to this. Today I ordered my double 1.7 with straps and cinch buckles. Tomorrow I begin the painful checking my e...
OK OK I get the point. I guess I will continue with my order tomorrow. Having went through this same scenerio a month ago over a superfly (which I love), guess I should've known better. Thanks for...
My last trip has caused me to be in the market for a new hammock. (Ripped my bug netting badly on my Skeeter beater). All I needed was an excuse and now planning to buy a blackbird, but want to be...
Thanks for the input. I think my decision is made.....superfly it is
I have been looking at tarps for waaaay too long. Looking for something durable enough for use twice a month, even through winter. About half of my trips are with a boy scout troop, others are one...
