A few of the hammocks at the Enchanted Forest
I think I'm going to have to put this on the calendar. Yup. Definitely putting this on the calendar. Now I just need to remember to look at the calendar come July.

Hanging without a tree strap won't directly kill a tree. But bruising the cambium layer can cause a tree to develop "dead spots" (cankers)
Cankers can deform and weaken a tree, making it more...

I'm gonna say it again.
You might think in a part of the state where it rains so much water would be easier to find. But you'd be wrong. ...

A glorious weekend. Starting with a campsite tailor made for hammockers, just far enough from the trailhead to make it feel like real camping yet close enough to accommodate some car-camping...
Detail Man demonstrated his Amsteel ridgeline this weekend. He, too, had difficulty with prussics slipping on the amsteel and came up w/ a constrictor on the ridgeline that held very well. No...

It'll make more of a "popping" sound as the neede goes through the fabric. Especially with taut ripstop.
Good people, good weather, great place.
And good eats:
And good hiking:
Running line (or webbing) through a webbing loop exposes the webbing loop to chafe. A 'biner reduces chafing on the webbing and the hammock line.
The habit probably comes from rock...
I'm in - I hope.
What a pretty little ditch.
I pulled in at the Pinchin Trailhead on Monday evening just as the sun was setting. A beautiful sunset to the West, unfortunately, left the Pinchin trail fully dark in...
Hitting the road as soon as I hit "submit reply." I'll get to the West side (Pinch in?) late this afternoon/early evening
When next you update add me.
The "sport nylon" ripstop at JoAnns is def 1.9 uncoated. It works. The key to shopping at JoAnns is never buy anything without a 50% off coupon. I've also seen some 48" widths of 1.1 in the...

Then spent the morning of the 5th pulling 1,600 lbs of garbage off the beach.
If there had only been trees . . . .
Sorry about the bike. But thank goodness the hammock wasn't damaged.
If you're just looking for regular ripstop and not sil-nylon, try the Jo-Ann Fabrics out at the mall. Look for the section labeled "sport nylon" and there might be some regular, uncoated 1.9 oz....

I fiddled around with a similar concept a couple years ago. I got the best results using 2 corkscrew shaped dog tie-out stakes. It worked fine in the back yard. It even worked ok when I set it up...
