Very nice. Welcome to the madness.
I'll take it.
I'm only 160#, but I've been using them since 2012 with no issues.
I sent Dutch a PM asking the same question. He replied that he had one lying around the shop and he sent it to me. It may be worth an email to Dutch.
I was reading through this TR again today and had to resurrect it.
I'm now a reluctant resident of NY where it was 5° degrees this morning. My CO TRs have me wishing I was back in the Rockies.
Hilarious. I've been to several yard sales but never camped out. That would be fun.
1. Get a map of Colorado and tape it to the wall
2. Get a dart
3. Throw the dart at the map
4. Hike the closest trail and it will be magnificent
There are so many absolutely gorgeous hikes...
It's really not that bad. I never would have given it a second thought if I hadn't read the complaint on this forum. You won't be disappointed with the tarp.
I miss the GA woods! It's toooooo cold up here!
@Slowanderer - you should drive up to MA for the NEHHA Spring hang!
I've never noticed the noise in my HG Cuben tarp. However, I normally sleep with ear plugs.
do we have any updates on this?
Greetings from the home of the light infantry at Fort Drum, NY! You might want to grab one of the smaller gear hammocks that can work as a seat. After all, you are in the chair force...
Thanks for the info!
I'm planning on making the drive from Western NY (Watertown). Anyone from my neck of the woods interested in carpooling?
I'm about to custom cut the 1/4" pad to go in the 2nd layer of RR. I'm hoping that it can be my summer insulation, and supplement my 20° UQ in deep winter.
This gets my vote as one of the weirdest threads ever.
I plan on messing with the idea this weekend. I'll post back if anything looks promising.
Very good to know. Sounds like moisture could definitely be an issue.
Your edit text! "deleted rant about NYS" lol!!!
I like using my Exped inflatable as well, but I feel like I'm confined to that pad. I don't get to use all of the hammock. That's what I don't like.
In the end, *most* people end up ditching the prussics. I know I did. YMMV.
There are too many good, no-fuss "mechanical options". I've been through several guy line solutions and the micro line...
I'll throw in the Wounded Warrior Project.
@ChacMool - Thanks for that input. Yes, my RR is a dual layer.
@gmcttr - I now see the differences in the GG pad widths. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll either have to find a place to source a...
This is a good thread to read.
Not the poles you are looking at, but I'm sure it would apply.
I was thinking of a 1/8 thinlight Gossamer Gear pad. Too sweaty?
Why is your bureaucracy and red tape so ridiculous? The regulations and taxes in this state are OUT OF CONTROL!
Subscribed. I really want to make this hang. Chesterfield is about a 4.5 hr drive for me in WNY. Obviously the planning doesn't revolve around me, but my vote would be for something further west. I...
I did some searching on the forum and I couldn't find an answer to my specific question, so here it goes. I want to custom cut a CCF pad to completely fill the second layer of my dual layer WBRR. My...
Really cool pics and gear!
The Arrowhead bumpers are the way to go for sure. However, I made some "bumpers" out of duct tape as a quick fix before a long trip. I didn't have time to order the bumpers and get them shipped to...
I have used the Mountainsmith poles as spreader bars since 2012. Now the original WB poles stay at home for when I setup my RR inside to watch Netflix. I've never had the first problem. Buy them. The...
Somebody make a decision and pick a date/place already! I need a hammock fix!!! This is my first Spring in NY and I have no idea about good locations or else I'd take the bull by the horns. I'm more...
I'm working on a little custom CCF bed for my 75lb yellow Lab. As long as he's not wet, he doesn't seem to get cold. However, he's a Lab and jumps in any and all water he can find. He's too big to...
Excellent. I have a lot of the same gear as you and it's wonderful to hear that it performed so well; specifically the JRB Greylock UQ and the HG 11' tarp w/doors. I also like the idea of keeping the...
Welcome from snowy NY!
Welcome from Fort Drum!
Oh how I wish I could have made it. I'm going to plus up my winter gear this year and will be ready for those temps come next Winter. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to a few spring hangs! Thanks...
This is making me jealous! It's been -23° here!
Thanks for sharing. That second zip tie cover up was really kicking your butt! I think I may make a few of these!
Welcome from snowy New York!
@sargevining - What are these nefarious FB groups you have alluded to? I feel that you should let us know so we can all joi...avoid them.
Thanks for the update.
Enjoy your trip! And remember...pics or it didn't happen.
reviving this thread...
I found this link to turning on tagging in vBulletin
@octothorpesarus - is this something that we can have available on HF?
I find myself constantly participating in...
made a mistake can't delete post...
I had such a good time at this hang last year, I almost want to make the 15 hour drive down from NY...almost!
Sorry to hear that you guys had to cancel.
@Slowanderer - you need to go to this...
Stupid tapatalk. Pm sent.
Welcome! Normally we all chime in with a "let the madness begin", or "welcome to the addiction". But you're already a seasoned pro!
