I have made a tyvek tarp with 1/2 foam sandwiched inside to hang on my hammock ridgeline, this helps greatly. It makes the air...
wow tuff weekend! what would you guys change to be more comfortable and warm?
I am finding that wind is a huge factor in staying warm while in the hammock, something i didn't notice much when tent...
Glad your ok, just get out and do some walking with or without a small pack.
it won't take long to improve your stamina, just be consistant.
i will bring bacon, unless nobody likes bacon:scared:
No Beans in the stew, or none will survive:scared:
Wind is a multiplier when it comes outdoor activities, it will find your weakest link.
I use tyvek under my pads and drape it over the hammock/under the tarp to keep the wind out.
I like small campfires, not the towering infernos. and small ones to cook on.
I also use wood to heat my home, so get to start a fire almost everyday, satisfies my pyro tendencies.
thanks, i will try this next time.

I wish i had read this last nite,

I slept in my military modular last nite at 10degrees no wind, to test it for possible frozen butt hang.

i will report back
Not thru hiking, as i will need to get back to the car and only have weekend.
would like to park the car and hike in to a site less than 5 miles, could go on to another site or not and just hike...
Linville gorge looked good on shugs video report, more info on that would be great.
uwharrie was suggested by several people too.

I am up for hike in or canoe/kayak in, wherever the most interest is.
