Count me in!
I'm going to try my best to duck out of work early on Friday, and then catch up to you guys on the trail. I'll look for the mileage breakdown for the trip.
Got the go ahead from the wifey to treat myself to some new down quilts. I've decided on a 30* TQ. What is up in the air is what UQ to get. I currently have a AHE Jarbidge, which takes me to the 20s....
Just got the green light from the wifey, and signed up for the trip. It'll be my first time to the Adirondacks so I'm really looking forward to it.
Depending on how early I can skirt put of work, and where you camp the first night, I might be able to catch up to you guys.
What is the itinerary plan?
I'd drive over from New York, depending on where the hang was.
Another tremendous video, Lord of Lollygag. Looks like you and Wander'n had a great time. It always impresses me how you always have all kinds of unique candy bars.
If you ever make your way to...
This is the answer I was looking for. Really want a ULA Circut. I currently use a Granite Gear Crown, and while the crown is nice and all, I usually have more room left and think, "Oh, well I can put...
Withdrawn: (Made a deal off of the forum) Warbonnet Blackbird 1.1 DL, Slate Grey version. Webbing straps. Used on 3 overnighters. Great condition, no issues, clean straps. I just like...
Hmmm...If you can get 2 synthetic quilts + gear into a 50L bag, I should be able to stuff a synthetic, down + gear into a 45L pack. Thanks for the feedback :)
I use the same method. Love it. I was just curious if there would be enough room in a 45ishL bag for the Jarbidge and everything else.
I love my Jarbidge UQ. It is my go-to UQ and a big part of my kit. However, being synthetic it is bulkier than down. I really want to upgrade to a ULA Circuit pack, to force myself...
Nice little bug net you've got there. I Like how it secures over your hammock like that. Is that a net of your own design?
You have a Great Pyrenees! I have a Pocket Pyrenees :) Cool!
My Dutch 10' Argon is SO SOFT! I'm considering selling my WBBB because I prefer my argon over the Warbonnet.
Oh the humanity! :scared:

I own one in black and one in blue. I take both of them with me on backpacking trips, one for my feet and one in case I get a cold spot during the night. I keep one accessible on the outside of the...
You might want to do some research reading up on trail journals of people from this forum who've hiked the AT.
I've never hiked more than an a 2 day trip on the AT, and it was all in Northern...
Dutch has tremendous customer service. I love buying from him because I know I'm getting a good product, at a fair price, made in the USA.
There are a lot of vendors who frequent this forum who...
I love that area! Such a simple yet fun over nighter. I hope the 2 of you have a wonderful time :)
I wish I knew you were going. I wouldn't have stayed home. Nuts! Next time I suppose. I hope you had a good time :)
I'll try again to get this one going another time :)
Actually we are not. This hang was cancelled when everyone else backed out. :(
Let me know if you want to do a hang sometime. I am always up for someone to do a trip with!
Are you going to do a review on it, Rob?
I have to admit, I find it hard to believe that there could be any hammock out there more comfortable than my 10' Dutch Argon but I have to say, the 1.2...
I'm left handed and lay "righty". Try and find a hanger in your area who will let you try out their set up. Everyone on here is pretty friendly.
Alright guys... What days can you make it, so we can start planning where/when to meet up?
Please do! Even if it is just one night. One night in the piney woods is better than 0!
Crap happens. You'll be there next time. The orders of SWMBO should never be ignored ;)
The Jarbidge is the only underquilt I own. It is extremely comfortable down to 25ish (YMMV). It packs down really well for synthetic.
I use a Granite Gear Crown VC 60 and have no problem...
Why cancel? That is an extra day in the piney woods!
We can talk about it more this week, but I'd like to stick to my original plan. If people can only make one day either way it happens.
did you plan on showing up Friday? Would you be up for shuttling some cars?
I'll be there Friday night, and Saturday night, walking out on Sunday.
I wouldn't worry too much. I don't know how dangerous a bunch of backpacking dorks could be :P
We could, but I already reserved the shelters North to South ;)
I reserved the shelters for 6 people and we're at 4 right now. C'mon guys! Lets go hang!
I have no solid plan for breaking camp Saturday morning, as I'm still waiting on the sign up period to hit.
I know DuctTape is doing the same thing: coming and joining us on Saturday.
I am not sure what the policy is towards campfires at the lean-tos
I am in Rochester and just planned on heading to the trail head after work, however, depending on who is going and what time...
Lean-tos reserved. :)
Just checked the map -- lean-to D was built in 2013
Just bought the newest maps last night. There is a shelter at D and a shelter at G
Good idea to reserve the shelters early. I'm going to call today and get them early!
That I am not sure of. I am new to the state and have never been to Letchworth before. I'm just gathering the information according to the Letchworth website as well as the FLT maps.
Are they the FLT ones? I was going to buy them via digital download this weekend. But if you want to lend them to me I would gladly take them :)
I'll be more than happy to hit that spot with you in the fall, Moose.
I started a google sheets sign up sheet to keep us organized.
Please sign up!
Yes for sure! Are they digital or paper?
Hey everyone, planning a hike down the Letchworth trail on the east side of Letchworth State Park.
Friday night -- Park in the northern 80 car lot, hike ~3ish miles into D shelter (access B to...
Posting trip planning thread today
Oops. Didn't see your post. Sorry!
There are 2 lean-tos along the Letchworth Trail, which is a branch of The Fingerlakes Trail. They're free as long as you call ahead and get a permit.
I'm looking into doing a trip down the Letchworth trail at the end of May. If any of you want to join let me know. I would love the company, and having multiple people would make it easy to shuttle...
My hammocks are black and slate grey, and my tarps are grey, only because that is the colors offered by the people who made them. I actually prefer bright colors, which is why my quilts are bright...
