Just remember to back the eye bolt out every year to allow for tree growth. If you don't, you will lose your eye.
I don't take mine out before bed. Well I clean them and pop em back in (upper only). Going on five years now with no problems once I got the fit right.
I'm in. Grandkids need a hammock
It's normal. How else would we get really familiar with our gear.
Please add me to list. Thanks a lot
No problem with the 10' ridgepole. HH Explorer Deluxe with the rope swapped out for chainlinks. About 8" end of hammock to end of Ridgepole on both ends. I have about a 25 degree hang angle. ...
Just measured mine at 13'7" with the legs spaced at about 40" between legs which I got by following Happy Fun Guys directions on cutting and building.

I have a 10' top rail.

Just a thought for the OP. Pad that bottom rail. Someone had their suspension fail and the badly bruised their tail bone when they hit bottom.
Last night I almost joined the ranks of "Hangers that have hit the ground". I have been hanging on a Turtledog stand every night for just over a year. Last night I decided to adjust the head end...
I am in. Thanks for the giving spirit
Please enter me in this very generous offer.

The bottom entry is great to keep the mosquitos out as you go to bed. If you find later that you want a zipper there is a vendor on here that will modify your hammock with zip
One thing that people didn't mention is if your area is a heavy mosquito area the BE gives the fastest method to get in away from them. You can always add the zippers at a later date from...
Search for the thread on Florida State Parks. Some allow hammocks but have strict rules to follow.
Does your whoopee look like this crude drawing of a whoopie
This is a test of formatting.:) Seems to be working with ie 10. :)
Peanuts, we need pictures so someone can help you get it right. Mine has been used every night for a year and I know there are people that have been hanging on theirs longer than that.
There is also a difference between large weave mosquito netting versus no-see-um netting. The no-see-um will block a slightly more amount of a soft breeze.
I'm in, thanks!
Count me in please!
I'm in! Thanks!
I would like in.
Thanks

We have had people die at 50+ with a brisk steady wind to drop thier wet bodies temps here in the panhandle of FL.
If I remember right Shug has to use a bib because his breath was soaking his quilt near his face.
Try hanging the foot end 5-6 inches higher than the head end to stop the slide towards the foot end. Also how tight is your hang. A looser suspension sometimes helps get rid of some of the ridge.
Stay with the 30 degree angle. Remember that your weight laying still is static and doesn't account for the dymanic loads getting in and out and moving around in your hammock will create. Would hate...
From my memory Gortex is a single layer system for waterproof breathability. I would be thinking under cover protecter or a pack cover.
I guess I'm number 78 or 79 if Artjrk's counts. It took me about 2 hours including the time running back and forth for different/more tools. Apartments are not woodworker friendly and I had to work...
Also, I think I read somewhere that stiching derates your rope less than a locked brummel. If I am wrong, would someone please post or PM me so I don't pass-on bad info.
Try looking at the site again for temp. Check the quilt comparison chart way at bottom of page for range. Chart shows 25 - 30 degrees.
I had same problem when I was trying to find info on...
If its rainy or forcast rain the tarp edge should be lower than the hammock edge to keep the water running off the tarp from blowinging in/on your hammock.
Two questions
1. what was your suspension angle from the tree
2. What were the night time temps. I sleep lousy if I get too cold.
I voted no. The reason is we are trying to educate the tenters that there is an alternative way to camp. Just offering them a complimentery hammock is a good idea but hard core tenters can be a...
If looking for a longer top rail, check your local phone listings for a chain link fence company. Most towns seem to have at least one. Some times you can find the swaged portion on a shorter piece...
And if you are using them for toggles on a marlin spike, knock out the spent primer and pass a cord inside like the OP did and tie the other end around your whoopie and you won't lose you toggle.
I'm in. Thanks for the good old fashioned give away.

If you need a quick level and your water bottle is transparent just hold it up next to your ridge line. Surface of the water always is level
The knot wasn't a mistake--It was just to keep the loop from eating itself.
