I added three pics to "BBQDad's Images."
My Son-in-Law and I did a five-day, four-night backpacking trip in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in August 2014.
We entered at the Benchmark Trailhead on the East side. Following the Continental...
A very nice video! Well Done!
Do what you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life.:)
This is a great place for hammock-lore. The folks on these forums are really nice, and have the answers to most any questions you could ask about hammock-hanging. Sounds like you are well on your...
It's good here!:)
...but good people here. Lots of fun, information, answers, virtually no attitude.
Thanks for posting these images of your trip. :)
Olympic NP certainly is a beautiful place to be---Gotta Get There!:)
Looks like "Expanded PTFE" wins on both measures.
I prefer to allow the dead to rest in peace.
There are plenty of other places to hang---especially in a National Forest.
Welcome from Southwestern PA---Greene County. You're gonna love these forums.:)
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all! :D
If you have a question about hammocking, someone here almost certainly has the answer. Welcome!:D
You are going to love this place.
Sounds like a great rig, and Oregon is one place I have got to get into before too long. (Montana, Wyoming, and Washington kinda got in the way...)
Welcome from Southwestern PA, USA.
I hope to hang in Canada someday. Keep those pics coming! Thanks!
Looks like a great trip. Thanks for sharing the really cool pictures!
That is one beautiful prototype. :boggle:
When do you plan to begin production?
Have you established a price?
It looks like one of those Exactly-what-I-wanted-but-did-not-realize-it tarps.
Yes, I posted a few pics in an album.
Montana Christmas 2011
It sure sounds like you two had a great time. Memories forever!
I have never had a blister while wearing wool socks.
Spend the bucks to buy the best-fitting shoes you can find for your Son. ...
We vacationed in a rental house in Emigrant, MT, for Christmas 2011. The house had about 20 Acres of land with some trees, so I was able to get in a one-night hang... sort of...
If I am camping in a campground with at least one other person, then it is likely we will have a campfire, using one of the existing fire rings.
If I am backpacking, then it is highly unlikely I...
I loved hammocking since my first night. I thought my camping days were done because I could not bear lying in a tent but hammocking has saved me.
Somewhere Jack Webb is smiling.:D
You came to the right place. Great people, each a wellspring of knowledge.
Shug is my hero.:)
Looks like a cool thing.
Please continue to keep HF clean and green. I love this place. I want never to violate the sense of respect and goodwill that flows through HF.
When I post here, I hope only to benefit those who...
When I got my first hammock (Hennessy Exped Asym w/Hennessy UQ) I used two beach towels over the ridgeline, draped down and connected to the edge of the UQ with small clips. They did not overlap...
...can make money; you are making memories that your grandson will never forget.
I am digging that bushcraft chair.
I was getting ready for a three-week vacation in Montana, including several days backpacking in The Bob. My Son-in-Law suggested I read Ray Jardine's stuff. I did some searching for "ultra-light"...
Way to go, Shug! Great video!:D
Congrats on the win. Hope you have a wonderful time on Rainier.:D
Not strictly related to camping, hammocking, or anything else for that matter, but a lot of fun:

Turn it on, hold your phone so the back of it is pointed in any direction you...
The following is offered humbly, and with all due respect, to anyone contemplating connecting anything to any sort of utility pole.
One year power-plant Electrician...
All that follows is IMHO:
I would not attach anything to an electric utility pole. There is nothing to protect you, should something go wrong. :scared:
Better to stay at least 15 feet away...
Forty years from now, your children will look at the pictures and smile... and get a little misty-eyed... and praise you in their hearts.:)
Given 28 shots in a fifth, that would be about $172.00 per shot.
Methinks I'll just look at the picture---unless I hit the Powerball.
I hear a hundred pipers playing...
You are to be commended for your kindness, patience, and generosity.
Wish my wife would've made a hammock for me...
Trekking poles are an essential part of my gear. Even on a perfectly smooth, level trail, they reduce the load and impact on one's feet and legs. (Some studies found as much as a 20-lb. reduction...
I experienced prolonged 35 MPH with heavy rain in the backyard.
I experienced prolonged 40 MPH with minimal rain about 10 miles from Scapegoat Mt. in Montana's Scapegoat Wilderness---part of the...
Beautiful mountains---and you get to look at them while hammock-hanging from beautiful trees!
Love the views. The campsite looks very pleasant.:D
This trip is a prime example of the "short but sweet" approach. You guys crammed a boatload of outdoor experience into a very short time. Thanks for the report and pix!
I would not try the shower curtain. I am 59 years old; I believe shower curtains were made of tougher stuff in the days of my youth. Maybe thicker, maybe better quality. Most of today's shower...
:D Congratulations, Brian! :D
:D There are few things in life that can top the feeling you get when they hand you that sheepskin. :D
:D Again, Congratulations! :D
Looks like a swell hammock; indeed, it makes me want to try a bridge hammock.
I thought about the tippiness question. I think a ridgeline might be one possible way to get greater stability.
Please consider the possibility that the dirty, potentially infested sticks you pick up from the forest floor may expose the trees to the risk of infection and/or infestation.
Using dirty sticks found on the forest floor can subject trees to the risk of infection and/or infestation.
If one wishes to avoid using straps of at least 1" width, with at least one full...
For 200 lb. in a hammock hung at a 30* angle, the load on the tree bark for 1" strap with no wrap is about 21.25 PSI; for 5/8" mule tape, about 34 PSI.
For the same load in a full-wrap mode, 1"...
Trees take a long time to heal.
I use nice, clean straps---the ones that came with my HH EA. Whenever possible, I take multiple wraps to distribute the load over the greatest area...
...that you are inviting trouble, either immediate or longer-term, if you do this. (Purely IMHO)
I never liked the idea of sitting on the bug net. Too delicate.
If you try it and it works...
I use a Hennessy Exped Asym. Yes, it has undergone the 2QZQ ZipperMod #4---a modification worth its weight in gold. Superb workmanship! Strongly recommended!
I hang my glasses from...
