I made a groung pad out of an old poncho liner and some sill nylon on the bottom and she carries it in her pack.

I was waiting for the aqua simple also but I think I'm gonna go with a Katadyn Base Camp At 11 oz its not that much of a weight gain and its also made very well.

I don't know if its the right way but I follow two rules don't put my sleeping bag on the very bottom because it might get wet. and heaviest items in first to keep a lower center of gravity.
