i don't think this has to be the case: a plastic tarp may not breathe, but i don't know how great the the breathability (sp?) of a treated canvas tarp would be. Even so, if you hang it high enough...

the price went up to 40 plus shipping. thats a little too much for an extra i don't need, without any of the bells and whistles that i've seen on other people's fancy hammocks.

Why do you want canvas?
Why not go with a large plastic tarp from a hardware store.
You'll get something much cheaper, much bigger, much easier to handle, and inherently waterproof
