I just hope that day will not come in a disastrous way.
A great idea, until it's not.
I've read posts of different groups planning to break and set new world record. I hate to spoil their fun but I have to wonder about the safety and all these load placed on the trees. What is your...

I just came across this new hammock manufacturer: sheltoweehammockcompany.com ...says they make the first available insulated hammock. Probably inspired by Just Jeff's WarmHammock?
Pretty slick set-up!:thumbup1:
+1 on the figure-8 knot. Or you can also use the Water Knot to create a loop which is just as secure as the Fig. 8. In either case make sure to leave several inches of tail for safety.

What size/color? Please post pics if possible.
Figure-8 bend, this is an alternative to double fisherman for binding two ropes.
I use figure-9 for my tarp setup, in case of loss or hardware failure i use these as backup - tie one end of the ridgeline using siberian hitch and tie off the other end using the farrimond friction...
You mean the bishop bag for the hammock or the snakeskin for the tarp?...Great job on the diy btw:thumbup:
Imo its just preference. I've been using recently the Siberian(Evenk) hitch to hook up to trees. Basically a fast tying, secure and quick-release hitch.
Knots can weaken line, not sure how much...

I read somewhere that one inch tubular webbing has a 15% stretch to it, and that nylon strength gets halved when it's wet.
Couldn't agree more.....time well spent = Priceless.
Looks so comfy. Great job!!

+1 on making the whoopie slings. They make it so easy to put the hammock up and the adjustability is great.....an easy DIY project. Here's a vid on making whoopies using only household items
