Broke out my WBBB XLC and brought a couple extra hammocks to the Campout. I slept like a baby and more and more of the adults are seeing the light. There have been lots of naps in my extra hammocks...
I had the same problem. I've changed my lines a bit on the doors and added a short line and mitten hook from Dutch to the tie outs on the door that hook to the shock cord that goes to the stakes....
HG incubator fits my XLC perfectly.
Wally World has a 5x7 ground tarp in the camping section that fold really tiny in a stuff sack. Works for me.
I know everyone on this forum is already impressed by Dutch and his famous gear, but I have to say, they're customer service is 2nd to none.
I got all excited to order some new Dutch bling last...
Has some of the stretch gone away? In other words, does it ever "break in" or get to its max stretch and stay there? Or every time you set it up are you getting the same stretch?
Sorry. Forgot the pics.

I wasn't really looking for another hammock (ya right) but someone posted that Woot had these for $20 so I figured I'd give it a shot, since they sell for $65 on Amazon.
The hammock is 11'6 long...
Had the in-laws come in town this week so I figured I could escape to my grill for 5-6 hours and smoke some ribs. Decided I may as well get comfy!!

Awesome video and great idea!! I'm going to see if I can convert an old Eno single into a chair.
I'm no expert, but I roll a couple times just to get my guy lines tucked away and then it's basically a stuff sack type operation. Pull and stuff, pull and stuff.
Welcome from Columbia!! I chose the WBBB XLC and couldn't be happier. 6'3" 220.
I am 6'3" and have the HG full length incubator. Plenty of length to keep all the important parts covered.
Also, look into the turtledog stands. Really easy to make and you won't risk ruining your fence. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/01/y6ugeqaq.jpg
What NOT to do!
Had a backyard campout with our neighbors the other day. I wanted to make sure all the ground dwellers would be comfy so I told them about the Nalgene hot bottle idea. In the...
I came across 100 feet of 1/4" shock cord that I bought for some reason years ago. Just wondering of anyone has any ideas that this thick of cord would be useful for as far as hammock mods or DIY...
Just ordered on to have around for the back yard. Heck, for $20 I had to give it a shot!
Looks good! Same combo I got except mine are HG products. Used them the other night and it got down to 20* and stayed toasty warm!
Done!!
My first DIY. This will definitely come in handy during some of our Boy Scout outings!!http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/28/arahyjur.jpg
Thanks all. I guess I'm abandoning the skins for the hammock. I tried the shower scrubber trick and it actually works perfectly but it's very fragile. I'm guessing I'd be replacing the mesh each trip...
Looks like a great time!!
Has anyone else run into this or found a solution (other than buying another brand of snakeskins)?
The knot that is formed by the ridgeline is so big that it binds inside the snakeskin and you...
We live in Columbia
Ha!! They all made it all night. I did make it easy for them. In addition to air mattresses and thermarest pads, they each had at least 2 sleeping bags including one 0 degree down bag each.
I...

Staying warm so far. Got the Jet Boil fired up and filling some water bottles to keep the beds warm.
Kids are on spring break and somehow over margaritas a couple days ago I convinced my wife and the neighbors to go backyard camping (the kids didn't take much convincing)
It gives me a chance to...
Here's the report.
Went to bed about 11 and it was pushing 30 degrees. I was wearing wool pants and top and an Underarmour hoodie. I also had on wool socks and a wool hat. Fell asleep immediately...
Welcome!! I bought my hammock originally because my son is a new Boy Scout and we camp every month and I wanted to get off the ground.
I quickly realized what a perfect solution this would be for...
Well 3 feet from the back door makes me 20 feet from the bar where my scotch lives, so technically I must be braver!! :-)
Wish me luck!! My UQ and TQ haven't arrived yet but I'm tired of just looking at my new WB XLC and superfly so I've decided tonite is the night.
I added a thermarest and am using a 0 degree...
Wind died down a little and I was able to get everything tightened down. I don't know that there is any good secret to hang the tarp gracefully in that much wind!!...
No shock cord on the anchor points just on the tie outs at the center.
First attempt it was just 4 around the edges because I didn't have any more shock cord to make the middle tie outs and I was afraid of using non stretching cord because of the wind gusts.
I tried to set up my whole system today for the first time. I walked outside and was greeted by sustained 25 mph winds with 35 mph gusts. I only have one option for where to hang in my backyard (2...
I did call and talk with Brandon before I ordered due to a time constraint of an upcoming trip I needed the hammock for and he told me he would expedite the order to make sure I had it in time, which...
Wow, they was fast delivery!! Less than a week! Thanks Warbonnet!!!! http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/15/ry7u5a8e.jpg
Have you emailed him? I just placed an order last week and was emailing with questions. He got back to me right away every time.
Thanks all!! I forgot to mention I bought some gear from Dutch for the tarps already, and also some snake skins.
After much lurking and research on this forum I've finally been conviced to get off the ground.
I dediced to go all in with my first hammock.
Just ordered the WB XLC double, the Superfly and...
Thats great!!! I'm an ASM also. We have one or two others that hang on and off. I have officially given up the ground, so I am going to try to convert some more of the leaders. My son has just...
Thanks both of you. Lets assume I can afford a winter a summer kit.
Is the best option a 20 degree and 0 degree or would you do 20 and 40 or 40 and 0 etc.
I'd like to get as much multi use out...
Are you guys saying 20 degree for UQ and TQ? Also when you're supplementing what are you using?
I did figure I would end up with some summer gear to supplement. At this time of year I figured I'd err on the side of being too warm and just vent the UQ or us less covers on top. The problem is...
Hello all,
After lurking for a long time, I'm finally taking the plunge and getting off the ground. I've been doing a ton of reading and research and I think I've finally decided on a 4 season...
Hello all! Long time lurker and I'm ready to make the plunge. This is a great thread with all the cost levels of gear. What I haven't seen is this.
If money were not a factor- what would be your...
