Oh yes; the eye is only there to hold a stainless thimble. There will be no rubbing of rope against parts.

OK, attempted my first brummel on the "cord" yesterday. Working with 1/2" is nothing like working with 7/64"! It took me an hour to work the brummel through to the right length, and even then, I...
Awesome, guys, thank you. Plenty of ideas here to use. I never even considered the triple dogbone idea (sounds like PG's first suggestion, too)... that couldn't be easier, and it's probably what I'll...
Hello fellow hangers! I've been absent for... awhile. I'm undertaking a small project at home using some 1/2" Samson Duraplex, and I'm curious about how to go about splicing the form in the attached...
It's... not. I have some basically unused straps that are definitely lighter than the ones I dyed, but the dye didn't hold like I'd hoped despite doing everything I could to see that it would.
OK, I had some filament at the end of a roll and printed a few of these. The features I added were a little too small to really work well. They work, but could be better. Here's another iteration...
OK, another iteration for magnets... mostly, this is just me experimenting with Fusion 360 to see what I can come up with. This one accepts 8mm x 3mm magnets to keep the two halves together and...
I came back to this thread to see if I could find dimensions to design and print exactly this... and here, you've done it already! Bravo.
EDIT: I may have gotten a bit carried away this...
I do, in the linked thread. The poles are fiberglass and aluminum.
Thanks! PM received... responding now.
This is a project I improved on over time and eventually put into use for one night. You can read the build progress in this thread. It works great and allows for treeless hanging in any 11'...
That was a custom build by a member here who hasn’t been heard from in a year or so.
SOLD to HandyRandy, closing & moving thread.
You got it! PM inbound...
I took a few more photos, and you can see more information about this design on the Fjallraven site here. The item # from the site is F81752.

Bump, and price reduction to $60 each or $100 shipped.
Last month in Yellowstone. I haven’t completed my trip report yet, but we saw snow on night 1, which was a nice test of the setup:

I bought these thinking they might fit me, but it's a true 32" waist and they're a bit too small. Sizing for both is EU 48, which is equivalent to 32 x 34. I really like the colors and I'll be...
I'm curious, I guess, but I'll almost always have a social and/or cooking fire regardless. It seems where I build a fire is always a considerable distance from my hammock, mostly because where I set...
A data point, take for what it's worth:
I hung a hammock in my shed earlier this week. I was trying to get the angles right for a comfortable hang from fixed-height anchors, which temporarily...
You're on it!
I'm ready for this trip, with the exception of a bit of food I still need to get. And because I'll be flying out there, I'll need to obtain stove fuel and bear spray--neither of which are allowed on...
Florida checking in... I use 1" tree huggers, but I've never run into any issues with stringing a tarp directly to the trees. However, because I like to keep my options open, I leave a set of Dream...
It's supposed to work fine (prusiks on straps), but I've not done it. When I started working on a no-line suspension for my small asym tarp, I decided to switch from strap suspension to Amsteel...
In for Bundle #2. Thanks!
I've only canoed/kayaked a few rivers with spots it would work... but hanging from a single tree dangling over the water is a fantasy of mine.
On the other hand, being dragged to the depths by the...
Hm... never considered that. I think I'd have to try pretty hard to get my head and neck up beyond my pillow in the head end of my hammock. And then twist in a way that it would wrap my neck. And...
I use the HG pillow. The tether means never having to chase my pillow down into the depths of my hammock/UQ. One loop with shock cord up to the gathered end is enough. I guess if I had two loops, the...
I can answer this part: my original Hennessy hammock had long Spectra lines connected at the gathered ends as hammock suspension. The tarp was designed to tie right to those lines with prusiks......
I went the long way around and ended up where you are.
I started with HH Snake Skins with the wires at the centers. Then tried a two-piece mesh. Then a one-piece silnylon. Finally, I got a...
Could you guys fill me in on this method? I have used the MyersTech all-in-one one tarp suspension... in fact, it was one motivator for me to start using whoopies instead of straps, as the prusiks...
Lawson GloWire tie outs, most certainly.
For a hammock light, I have a ridgeline organizer and to one of the loops, tied "permanently," is one of these cheapo keychain LED lights:

OK, I replaced the Amsteel on one of the apexes with what is essentially a locked brummel figure eight. I have diamond knots on my hammock CLs, so the small loop on each end will just slip over the...
It's a great time to buy with the sale going on! I have exactly the same setup for my son, but with no bugnet yet... since he's only camped while with me, I keep the Double Dutch bugnet packed with...
Hiking partner with matching blood type?
That's a good idea, and free. I've got a heat gun and bunch of PVC sitting around. I like the idea of molding a single piece around the hex aluminum pole and bending it rather than using my JB Welded...
I'm not seeing any reference to its waterproofness in the ad.
I really don't have much more input, sorry.

The standard Chameleon is 58”. That info appears in the Q&A section of the Chameleon product page.
#1 can be answered on the website
#2 is subjective
#3 might have been covered in the email, but I didn’t notice and I deleted it accidentally
#4 Chameleons and accessories. See website:

Just got an email... all Chameleons are 15% off. That doesn't help you decide on a width, but it's a good time to go with one or the other!
That's awesome. Every time I get to a setup I like, someone comes up with a better idea.
Someone here posted the other day that figuring out which hammock fits you is a lot like figuring out what shoes fit you. It's a great analogy. I love Asics, but I don't like Adidas. Same size, same...
Google "Big Orange Screw."
Here are my extension adapters, cured but unfinished:

I'll have to set it up to figure out what length of PVC I need for my tarp. I think I'll cut them long...
Doh, yes, I did. Thanks.
Ultimately I tied them as shown in the Myers Tech vid--9" from the ends--with a satisfactory finished length and trimmed maybe 1-1/2" off of each end. So I could have...
OK... finished one tree strap/shackle combo. Wow, am I bad at button knots... this is what eventually go me through it, too:
Those sanity-check steps are helpful: "This is what you should have...
I'm coming back to this thread because I now have some of Jeff's evo loops instead of CLs on my Chameleon, and if I get some time today, I'm going to attempt to tie some button knot loops onto the...
I like putting "handles" in my prusiks... a little loop of cord can give you a lot of leverage on the prusik, and maybe even give the prusik more grip to prevent slipping.
Those are what I use. They seem to work best at the places I've been sleeping, but even so I've managed to yank one out of dry ground with the help of my rowdy 3-year-old. A good lashing at the stake...
I didn't see anywhere in this thread any info on how long your poles are (assuming 8'). My painter's poles are 8' when extended, and I wouldn't be able to do that. My UQ is pretty close to the ground...
I added these little buggers to the "pulling" ends of cordage in my LineLocs:
