its a belief about infrared absorbtion...its arguable but many folks used to coat there pots with black stove paint for effiecency

Brady is right on, sorry for the confusion. Both Top and Underquilt are rated at 40* but I was comfortable with a good baselayer down to mid to lower 30's in the PA area. YMMV

Yes I separated everything. Backs, sides, fronts,collars, sleeves, shoulders, zippers and three pockets. I used same pieces ARTJRK used only I would have put both orange and black on the same sides...
