Thanks all, I think that settles the decision!
Oh, so the cont. loop goes through the channel in the gathered end of the hammock and then through itself.
So the continuous loop is run through itself below the bunched end of the hammock? Do you leave it there when packed up or remove it each time? Any reported issues of the hooks failing?
Thanks I'll look those up. I don't hike much in summer weather but I do camp off the moto so weight isn't much an issue for the bugnet. I guess I don't carry it fall-winter-spring anyway.
Been away for awhile! I need to ditch my bugnet. It's an ENO guardian. I hate the setup, but mostly I really hate the way it seems to constrict me, keep me from getting a good angle. The opening...
Came across this by luck...had to share here. This creeps me out just looking at the pics.

I have been looking forward to this for a long time! We may or may not make it due to some financial crises and bad planning on my part so I haven't put what we can bring yet. I'm really hoping to,...
Looked like so much fun!
I'm going to finally get the UQ. I've had success with pads, but I move around too much. Been looking at all the options and it seems like theres more out there than there was just a couple years ago...
This sounds awesome!!
Backpacking! And we are near roanoke va but interested in from here up through shenandoah NP.
Just wondering if anyone might have a suggestion. I've never been out more than 2 days at a time and want do a 3 to 5 day trip this week. I live in the western part near the blue ridge parkway right...
I see it now. I must have spelled it wrong when I searched. other than the one video, i havent seen any reference to its use with a hammock.
Anybody have any experience with one of these? It looks like an amazing piece of gear and I just recently heard of it.

Old thread here, but it was cool seeing what all the different posters did with their dogs. Lots of good ideas here. I have a 60lb black lab girl, and I've tried lots of stuff with her. I tried at...
65ish lb black lab. In colder weather I bring a longer closed cell pad. i get in first, she gets on the edge of the pad where it extends beyond me, my legs go over the dog, the bag goes over my legs...
I am admittedly more nervous when I have the kids with me, especially the daughter. When I do carry it is an old .357 mag. Too long and heavy for the ENO stuff sack. I hang the barrel end from where...
Got a 50lb black lab who's still pup. If she were calm, she could hang with me. Last trip, in the morning I let her hop in. Nails weren't a prob since I use a full length foam pad. I shoved her...
Looking at some options to do with my son next week while his sister is off in band camp. One option is to bike a rail trail and camp. So I'm looking at the greenbrier river trail and wondering if...
Now that is interesting!
I was looking for one of those and didn't see it on the speer site, or anywhere for sale.
Powerboats weren't bad but there is some traffic. Mostly fishers. I heard of the spot from hikingupward.com. its listed under the GW national forest section there. Im gonna hit this one again. The...
My first idea was to get her used to the idea of sleeping under the hammock. Tried thrice. One, heavy rain came and while I was dry under the tarp, all the runoff soaked her. Two, I had to get out to...
My lab pup is not very content being tied to the tree to sleep under me on the ground. Or on the foam pad I bring for her. She's a spoiled house dog. So im entertaining the idea of having her in the...
Pics from the trip. The spot is called greenwood point, and you can either hike in the 3.3 miles or boat to the place. All pics were taken right from the hammock. Lotsof lakeside trees to hang from....
I think a pads good for those temps. I use a wallyworld blue foam one. But as the temp approaches 50° I like a second pad perpendicular to the first so that my shoulders have padding. Right now im...
if its hot then its one of the things that i clip to my ridgeline and hang from the foot end, so its touching just the part of the hammock that meets the suspension then hangs over the back and out...
I'd give it a go in the backyard and see how it is. oughta be fine for awhile. the web treestrap that is pictured there is the exact one that i have and it does its job fine. i sometimes use it a...
Those vids got me into whoopie slings and because of the engaging delivery, I was able to remember the spike hitch setup when I forgot half my suspension stuff.
So I was out camping friday night. was close to dark and i was just starting to get set up. put up one tree strap and couldn't find my other treestrap in the stuffsack. looked everywhere and for some...
Next time you use that setup, if you happen to have a camera handy, could you snap a pic of one of the spreader bars attached to the hammocks?
thanks! that gives me some ideas to work with. i'll definitely use a greater angle with the tarp corner tieouts, that makes alot of sense. i'm gonna grab those grip clips too, those look cool! if i...
So I did my first setup of the summer in the backyard yesterday. I'd say it was at least 1.5hrs from start to finish, although I was playing with some ideas and new gadgets. If you could offer any...
I've had some success with using the bug netting that was made to be suspended over a cot by poking holes for the suspension to go through. i cut it hurredly and it tore so i went to a hammock...
I'd be interested!
I've been using the ENO DN for a few years now. For awhile I got by on a roughly thrown together modification of the cheapo bug net that gander mtn sells...the kind thats meant to be suspended above...
Same kind of hammock here too. I want a ridgeline but havent really started looking for tutorials yet since it was under tarp and insulation on my list of things to figure out. but i did find this......
This is something i've been interested in for a while. wrapping the bag all the way around the hammock and myself. i just can't envision how it could be done...without a large round gap at the foot...
I've been planning on trying to put it in the bag. one of my first times out i was slipping off the pad and got frustrated and used duct tape to attach the pad to the bottom of the bag. it actually...
well that sounds like two awesome suggestions. i had forgotten ALL about the rock castle gorge. havent been there in years. i stayed in the cabins there once. totally awesome place.
I hadn't heard...
I'd like to plan a 3-day for june that would be my daughter'ss first multi-night. Just wondered if anyone had any recs for good trips. A loop would be nice but not necessary.
haha I doubt that! well last summer i got into some rain during the night. i didnt tie off the end of the webbing that went through the steel rings and it got slippery and slid through. fortunately i...
Oh ya..watched a few of them several times. Loved em. Those vids are the reason I refitted the ends of my ENO to whoopie slings.
I make it to the NRV sometimes...love the cascades in july when its really hot. And I been wanting to make it to that long rail-trail in....pulaski maybe? I forget. The one where you can bike like 50...
Just wondering if theres anybody local-ish to southwest VA? Like Roanoke area? I've read alot, tried some things, never really been satisfied with the way I do things related to my setup. I was...
