decided not to drill the wall and see how i could use the joist.
I've drilled holes both ends of the joist and connected to that.
the angle isnt great...

i have a hammock stand but its cumbersome and to be honest its a chore to get it out etc, i was hoping for quick and easy bina and go haha
i just measured the height of the joist, the wall side it is approx 2.5 meters high, post side its approx 1.9 meters high.
I might get the hammock out and just pin it up to visualise if the angles...
thanks for the replys, i dont really want to fit a post on the wall side if i can get away with it.
an option would be to raw bolt a 3ft long 8x2 against the wall horizontally then fix the U plate...
I did originally think of that as obviously there is almost no horizontal tension then.
But the joist is rather tall so I'm not sure if it's doable?
The span is 4.8 meters but I don't know the...
