I'm not new to the forums or to hammocking, but I have never been to one of these meetups before and I would like to change that. The Gorge is super close and if I can get the scheduling worked out...
I'm curious because I have a ton of these lying around and I'll give it a shot. Do you tie lines just onto the chop sticks or do you modify the sticks somehow to hold a line?
I still use a mummy bag in the hammock and haven't yet had a need for an underquilt. Last night I took my new montbell bag down to 31 degrees (its rated to 30) and was warm and comfortable....
Glad to see folks enjoying the Gorge while ringing in the New Year! One of my favorite campsites in the entire world is hidden on the end of a short ridge just above Grey's Arch in a secret spot ;-)....
LOL, It's hard to think of Shug of all people without a hammock!
I use mine in the same way: empty my pockets into it, toss it across my body and the hammock, and it becomes a great little weight of sorts to make your hammock into a cocoon.
Great video man! I have actually been considering picking one of these up for a while, so thanks for giving me a little more intel before I decide whether or not to make the purchase.
Happy early holidays, Count me in.
Man, I have been looking forward to the snow so much and this video makes me even more anxious for that first powder! It's going to be a while for me but it looks like you guys had a great time.
A few weeks ago I came across these crazy cheap battery-powered LED lights at Big Lots that work off of two AA batteries, are very bright, and seem to last pretty well on one set of batteries. I...
Welcome! It makes me happy to see all the older members on here from KY as well as new folks from the Bluegrass.
I have been planning to make a double layer just like this for a while with a different color on each side. Glad to know that yours came out well and gives me a real world projection of what I see in...
I think this might be the only place where I can say that I cannot wait to hang with the snow falling down and people not ask me if I am crazy. Looking froward to the cold :D
I am also currently looking into making my first hammock and would like to go single layer as well. Can anyone attest to the sustained durability of a single layer as opposed to a double layer for us...
I knew some good folks here would provide me with pertinent and very useful info. I must admit that I am a little embarrassed that I had never even considered the suggestions of attaching to other...
Bare with me as I am having a bit of trouble picturing the door frame setup. Would I simply roll down both windows on one side and wrap through like one would on a tree or post?
Basically, I am interested in the idea of strapping one end of my suspension to the roof rack of my xterra (obviously the other end would be strapped to a tree or a pole or what have you) when the...
I am also interested in making my first tarp and trying to compile and process the wealth of info I am finding spread around this forum. Would you care to elaborate a bit on this statement about the...
I just got back from a weekend there, although we stayed on the Kentucky side the entire time. If you are on the fence about this trip, I highly recommend that you make it if you can, the area is...
I always loved hammocks and hated sleeping on the ground. These two notions combine to lead me to abandon my tent for a hammock while camping, pretty simple.
I didn't mention this in the original post, but I kind of want to avoid buying things off the internet if at all possible because it pains me to pay shipping & handling.
I am still a newb around here and as my first DIY endeavor I would like to upgrade my suspension from the ENO slapstraps. I do like the idea behind the slapstraps and I basically want to mimic them...
I'm interested in the jacket. Do you have any more pics of it, maybe one that shows the back and one of closer up? Also, how does the removable hood attach? I am assuming either button or velcro...
If something happens and bab5freak doesn't take it, I call dibs or next in line or whatever.
