This item is SOLD!
Sold to country hang, pending funds!
You can see in the bottom picture its a straight taper from top to bottom.
yes it does
I honestly don't know. Got it two years ago and if that was an option I doubt I ordered it. I don't worry about that so much with top quilts. Thanks for asking!
One last try, $275.00 shipped conus.
Yes, 280 shipped.
I lowered the price. Great TQ for the $$$$
I have a 0° Burrow, regular length, black on black Argon, 4 ounce over stuff, with a snap foot box for sale. Comes with stuff sack and cotton storage sack. I bought it new with the intent of doing...
Use a slip stitch. Should be reasonably invisible:
SOLD to Ktitan.
Sold pending payment!
Yes it does
Ok, so I just finished my first DIY TQ (https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/105322-First-shot-at-a-topquilt), and I just realized I went with a length of 78". No big deal except I want...
Nice work! Perfect UQ for hunting season!
I don't believe it is, but that wasnt a big deal for me because its a topquilt.
No instructions bubba, just started sewing. It seems like 52-54" is standard for the top width and I tapered to 42". Went with 16 baffles, the top and bottom baffles are 4" and the 14 middle baffles...
Are you kidding john!!?? You are the master of understatement! Beautiful quilt brother, and yes the pictures never do the color justice. Nice job.
Nice video, thanks for the link!
John, my friend! So good to hear from you! I'd love to see what you've put together. I'm always interested in other peoples work - sometimes you get great ideas that way ;).
Thanks! I'll find out if I dumb lucked it or actually have it figured out when I make the next one, lol
No worries, I was just curious. :)
Somehow I gotta feelin' you might do an even better job than I.....but let me be the first to wish you a Happy Birthday Dutch:thumbup:
Thanks everyone! I was excited when it all came together. I have a bunch of black/gray/brown tq's and uq's, and I like subdued colors, but I always want to make something a little bolder that you...
Thank you! My next one is going to be the opposite, black inside and orange outside. Will probably make a matching uq. I bought 3 pounds of down and a bunch of Argon 90 to play with :)
I second vladpack's recommendation. Here are a couple of trip reports from two West Canada Lakes trips I did:
So now that I've got a bunch of UQ's under my belt I decided to give a top quilt a try. I used Argon 90 inside and out, and thanks to Wilderness Logics 12 ounces of 850 fp down gets me a solid 20°...
There is supposed to be bus service from NYC to bear mountain in Harriman. I did an overnight last weekend from the bear mountain inn southbound on the AT to the blue trail to west mountain shelter....
Love dolly sods! Hiked there twice this year and will definitely be back sooner than later. Like like you had a great adventure!
Sounds like I'll be using Silnet. Thanks for the tips on drying time and cornstarch. My main concern was the sealer being too "grabby". Sounds like i might be over thinking....as usual :)
Thanks John! Sorry, the tree house is no more :(. It is being turned into a shed as we speak.
And he bites HARD :)
My next project is going to be a sil rain jacket, and I was wondering how most people go about sealing the seams. I'm not sure whether to use seam tape or seam grip painted on the seams. I've never...
I use the "Working Down" method by drifter and not only is it fast and easy, it's mostly mess free. I say mostly because I was filling a full length UQ with 11.5 ounces of down and on the last baffle...
Thumbs is right that Dutch's hammocks are just over material cost, but there's just something about using gear you made.... If I didn't have a thread injector I'd buy one of Dutch's myself! A hammock...
I started out doing whipped ends but now do end channels on my hammocks. Either one will work, it's just a mattwer of personal preference.
Another great place to pick up gutermann is Wawak; http://www.wawak.com/products/category.cfm/cid/1097/Gutermann-Top-Stitch-Button-Hole-Mara-70-Thread/
Thanks Fronkey! Doing your bugnet as a first project was a real confidence builder. :thumbup1:
Sorry the camo doesn't agree with you ShooTa. It looks washed out in the pics, but is actually very nice. You're right, I need some shots from a trip, or at least that will be my excuse for going.......
I have another uq to make for another friend, then I'll be making some sil rain gear(jacket and kilt), then on to a pack. By then I'm sure there will be a few more projects on my to do list .
*****WARNING - PICTURE HEAVY*****
So I don't post much, but I lurk here most days and have benefitted greatly from the advice and info everyone has shared. I bought a Brother xl2600i for myself...
The only color that the shiny side has been noticeable on is the coyote, the camo looks the same on both sides. I made a Hammock from the argon 1.6 and it handled as easily as ripstop. I'll guess...
So I'm in the process of making a down 3/4 length uq with an argon 90 shell. I've figured out the shiny side is the "wrong" side. Question is, how do you folks with more experience than I mark the...
I'm not really crazy about the orange color of my dynaglide tarp ridgeline. Is there a source of dynaglide that is a more muted color or can dynaglide be dyed?
Ramblinrev thank you. I had a feeling it was a tension problem, but never expected to have to go as high as I did. I wound up with the tension cranked all the way up and the...
I tried tightening the top tension, but I guess not enough. My machine doesnt appear to have a lower adjustment. I'll give it a try. Thanks a bunch!
I just finished my diy fronkey bug net (thanks for the tutorial fronkey) and it came out so good I couldn't believe I sewed it! Now I'm working on converting a synthetic sleeping bag into an uq for a...
Glad you had a great trip RM. Thanks for the pics - they brought back some fond memories!
Thanks for the info!
I'm thinking about hitting Dolly Sods next weekend with a few friends. Anyone have any idea what kind of buggy conditions (or not) we might expect to encounter?:scared:
Yeaaa! Like everyone in Canada!:lol::lol::lol:
