I guess my mania is blooming late, at least publicly. My kit is full of mania.
This. I've done several bike camping trips with friends where I was the only hanger and I've parked up to three bikes under my tarp.
Great tip. I've had a few nights in the BWCA that would have been miserable if it weren't for the nalgene of just-boiled water to snuggle with. I am amazed at how warm they stay through sunrise.
I've tried a thermarest pillow which is ok, but I generally leave it at home and just wad up a fleece pullover or some other article of clothing I don't need to wear. I tend to find that in the...
For me, down to about 20*, no
Insultex is OK, but there is no miracle UQ material. You can cope with a basic foam UQ until a proper UQ is within your budget.
Well, to be honest I've been browsing and very rarely posting on these forums since 2007. I've been hanging in my HH Asym since some time before. Now I'm just trying to get my post count up so I can...
This item has sold.
Excellent condition, only used one night. Includes the undercover, pad and double ended stuff sack. Asking $90 shipped (continental US). Paypal preferred.
I saw guySmiley's KAQ in action and was impressed. Enough so that I am ordering one for myself.
Where can a guy pick up some c3 tape? I did some googling but came up empty.
I'm thinking of taping a heat sheet directly to the OCF pad, but would I miss out on the added area of the heat sheet...
Agreed. I used two bowlines with small loops and added a worthy biner that was only about 2 inches in length and believe I either broke even or lost an inch at most. Has worked well in testing but...
It's a pretty asinine policy with the whole ISP email thing. It serves no meaningful purpose for the site and just alienates those of us who would like to keep the same email address when we move...
This is what I always thought too. There have been times where the mosquitoes were so bad that I was grateful for this to keep them out while I stayed close to the fire...
+1 for hex.
I use an 8 liter stuff sack that is about perfect for my ULBA + SS.
This is the same setup I now use and I can't recommend it enough.
Did you use the SS instead of the CCF pads or in addition? And did you use a space blanket or other vapor barrier on top of the underpad? Any condensation?
cheers. Oh, and not to be a total...
+1 for figure nines! This setup is cool, but I would worry about losing the guy lines if they weren't attached to the tarp. Although by that logic I should worry about losing stakes too.
Great, simple mod! Thanks for the instructions. I can't wait to get this on the trail.
I'd be interested in attaching this to the UP as well. I get the arguments against cutting and attaching but am still interested. The big downside of the SS is the hassle of getting things situated....
that makes sense, thanks fanatic. I'm headed to the BWCA soon and plan to throw in a fleece blanket just in case. I'm more used to backpacking than canoeing, and it's a struggle to fill those huge...
Thanks for the clarifications. I've always used a 3/4 length blue CC pad and pile a mummy bag on top. I'm excited to lose the bag and just wear my warm fleecy bits. Will definitely lighten the load,...
Hey all,
First post here. Wondering, are you saying you wear all of this instead of using a bag or quilt? Had a HH for a few years and have always used a pad and a sleeping bag piled around me,...
