Lol, thanks man!
Excellent, thanks guys.
I figured I would post this here for all of you buying those Yukon Outfitters hammocks and rainflys. I thought it would be nice to show the coverage and how I suspended it for the noobies.
I have...
Well, 5 wraps did the trick. Thanks guys!
Well, that's the easy answer. Thanks man.
Will that work? I thought the prusik line needed to be smaller diameter than the main line.
I DO have an Ace near me. I'll look around there thanks. Do you know if what he used was a natural...
Mason's line? If so, what size?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks! I don't know why my links won't work, but here's another:

I made my first small order to Dutchware recently to suspend my Yukon Outfitters tarp above my Yukon Outfitters double tarp.
I should mention that I did my research and found them the cheapest...
That's where that went. Thanks, I was wondering.
What an awesome place to hang for the first time!
I love the Sleeping Bear Dunes.
I can see how the rope these hammocks comes with (super-paracord?) would be problematic both in stretch and water absorption.
What did you replace yours with?
I like that idea and may build one of those. Thanks for posting it.
In the places I ride you can always find ONE tree. Finding two perfect ones can be difficult.
Hanging off the bikes would be...
Good to know thanks! AND I can see how you would have been cold. We're having a very mild summer here so far. Had to have been 55 or so overnight up there?
This is VERY good to hear. I plan to stay at Cycle Moore enroute back from Mackinaw later next week (trailering my DR350 up for a family vacation and riding back early) AND during a 3 day trip in...
Not sure what you mean. Too much sag or the material bunching up beneath you?
Take a stick and shove it between the shock cords (perpendicular to the hammock and the two shock cord lines suspending the bug net) to spread it out.
Said stick is now a "spreader bar".
Lol, it would have been a hilariously hard lesson learned if you'd jumped in it.
And yeah, first rule of pediatric emergency medicine. Kids bounce.
Still working a regular schedule here as an LEO and jealous of you 9 shifts a month guys.
Stay safe out there.
Ummm, uhhhhh, yeah....
I assume you have a dry sense of humor. However, for those not attuned to this type of comedy but unsure how to proceed.....both ends of the rope get secured in the locking...
Lol.
Hammocks have many uses :)
If you flipped the hammock over wouldn't the netting then be on the bottom, underneath the hammock?
Finally got my double in today! Man is it nice to have that extra room!
For the other n00b's out there I figured I would share how I set up my suspension.
I used what I had laying around the...
I got my second w00t hammock in today and figured this is a perfect opportunity to rework my suspension based on all of your recommendations. Here's how it looks now:
...
Yeah, that seemed screwy to me too and the instructions were useless.
I just ran the shock cord down one side (through 3 of the loops), around the tree, down the other side (the other 3 loops) and...
The potential with these for DIY creativity is high. I'm looking forward to see what people come up with.
I'm not weight constrained (mostly a motorcycle camper) so I intend to use some descending...
My understanding is a ridgeline is just used to maintain a consistent angle hang to hang.
You can also add one to this or any other hammock if you like.
Good to hear that some of you were able to take advantage of this sale.
I can't wait for mine to come in!
I had sadly not found this site when I bought my shorter bug net version from woot.com during their last sale so I didn't realize that the shorter version might not fit my 6" frame as well as the...
All of the above plus ferries, pick up trucks, etc. I have ratchet straps and they work too, just unnecessarily complicated sometimes and just as prone to slipping in my experience. Besides, you're...
The Holland area.
Thanks for all the ideas guys. I appreciate it and has gotten my wheels turning on how to use what I already carry for both purposes.
I think the easiest answer would be to...
Well thanks all.
I'm beginning to get my mind more "tuned" to hammock thinking. I appreciate the ideas.
I was just looking up stronger straps, but this is a better idea.
Cut off the metal buckle, put a carabiner through the existing loop and put the rings in the carabiner. The strap could still be...
Well that makes a lot of sense. Anyway specific you strap it to put less weight on the buckle or just generally near the middle instead of off to one end as I've done?

CAVEAT: I can already see how it would have been a better idea to wrap the strap around the tree twice...
Sorry for the thread hijack, but I'm a n00b too. What are the differences between traditional and nontraditional hammocks?
O man, just noticed you are in Roanoke. That has to be motorcycle heaven.
We got back a few weeks ago from a trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Tail of the Dragon. Good times and great riding...
It can be windy especially when you get close to Lake Michigan, but its not too bad.
It doesn't matter what you ride as long as it only has 2 wheels. I ride with the most diverse group of...
Good to know. Thanks.
Well, if you have time to run up to Michigan for a fall color tour there is a group of us riding north from the Holland area. October 4th through the 6th.

Anyone who's ever fly fished can attest that this is definitely not true. The bugs might "try to avoid it" but they are definitely successful at accomplishing it.
Thanks for the welcome guys.
Will do, BTW current LEO here.
Hey all!
A buddy of mine has been going on and on about the virtues of hammock camping for years so when I saw that woot had a deal going for a hammock with bug net for only $25 I figured I'd give...
