Thirstybear do you have suggestions for main part of WNF?
Isn't the rule "Hike-High, Hang(camp)-Low"? As in get up to see the view, then get down to a leeward side for protection. Remember you want to stay out of the bottom of a valley also.
Good news I found a car. Bad news I still can't make it. Might do something next weekend, I post if I do. There is still August I hope it stays a cool summer.
At this time I have to back out of this trip. I was in a car accident and my jeep was totaled. I'm alright but the insurance company is taking forever getting me the check. If I get the check and...
Bump to help keep things rolling.
Was guy looking a line that is sold by the foot. It only allows for a selection of up to 20. Is this right or am I reading this wrong? Tried different types all have a 20 max.
HP that's a start.
1 Friday meet at H stay for Saturday. This gives people the option for a day hike of the loop or down to D then C and back the cut off trail
2. Actual backpacking....
Weclome. Let's get more going for a hang. If you're in the Columbus area and need help let me know.
Anyone up for Zaleski in July? I'm thinking 17,18,19 it's after the 4th rush and far enough out to make plans.
I would like to retry AF sometime in good weather. Here is a review of the last time.
To be fair I had friends do the same trip the week...
So I started a new thread but please keep the comments coming.
I'm happy we were able to warp time and space to help facilitate and...
Reposting form my mistaken SE thread.
Lets start planning a hang or two for this summer. I know the Ohio hangs have been lacking and are disrupted due to our consistently inconsistent weather, but...
I'm glad this is getting views and reponses even though it is still in the SE category.
1 Repost this in the Midwest area since it has not been moved?
2 See how much insane stuff we...
I was wondering 1 or 2 ply for fleece. This looks like it could work and I have a couple old blankets that need repurposed
I am transitioning to a full time hang. I just about have the hang on the hammock dialed in on my stand to something similar in comfort as when I'm camping. My issue now is heat. The only area for...
Mods please move to Midwest as I realised I posted in wrong area.
Anyone have/want to do a Summer Hang?
Looking for a group hang as I can do a solo any time.
Are you are suggesting to have a seam in the middle crossways from side to side? This may cause some pressure point issues effecting the hang and you would need a triple stitch for strength and I...
Just switched out my to my SBP turned upside down so the net is on the bottom. It has a large solid panel compared to the castaway which has 2 12" strips on each side of a narrow middle panel. ...
I find the parachute type taffeta to have more give and stretch than my 1.6 Argon.
So, the stand came in. I have it setup temporary as I need to rearrange the bedroom. I think I'll need to make a custom hammock for this. I tried my 10' 1.6 argon in it was having issues with the...
I'll do an update after I get it. Got free delivery but it is on the slow boat. I also need to make the room for it. Not sure were to put my bed.
Before this thread start to reflect the ney saying of a BPL type thread I want to clarify:
This thread was to give a heads up on a good deal.
I already bought it.
I am not looking for...
The yoke lets the gathered end go over if the hammock is too long and the metal hook can be placed at different potions along the uprights to change the "hang".
109678 this show a 12-14' Mayan style...
Just pulled the trigger on this stand. Looks like Full Time hang in my future. Now just need to find a strong cotton material at the fabric store for some DIY fun.
I have the 10' Argon 1.6. It works great for me at 5'6" 130lbs. I have been in a few 11's and they are awesome but not necessary I feel if you are under 5'9" from what I've read.
I had a good time meeting everyone. Sorry to say I woke up Sunday morning with a Stomach Flu or something. My boss had it bad last week and it has been making it's way around at work for a while. ...
Sooo I'm back to coming tomorrow. Guess it is site 9 now.
I should be there Friday maybe late after 8pm. At the moment don't have to work Saturday but that can change.
I have an early KAQ 5.0 Apex thats been toasty in the 20°s and had to vent in the mid upper 30°s because of wearing to much in sleep/base layers.
That 3 for a winter dream. I also believe Mule got custom 13' winter tarp from Wilderness Logics for his bridge.
I'd give them a call. If you are looking for one with doors a custom winter dream should work. It might need a longer ridgeline and the panel pullouts placed for the spreader bars.
Hanging from an "A" frame bench swing I had staked down to prevent it tipping. This was my actual first time hanging. I had to use a tent vestibule as a tarp.
Do you have a detail pic of the pull outs. How about a new winter dream also.
Here, may have to work Saturday morning will be there Saturday night.
On the note of straps I have a bunch of seat belts that I savaged from scrap at work. If anyone wants some let me know and I'll see what I have. First come first served.
I recently had the same epiphany. Alas I have not been so fortunate.
They look all metal.
I think my pucker is a user issue. I found a new bobbin winder if I end up needing one but can't find the upper thread guide. There is a local sewing machine repair place...
There was a bit of grim that I cleaned up and a bunch on lint. The bobbin mechanism was a black gooey mess.
Here are a few practice stitches.
Well I got it for $10. It has a couple chips but at 38 years who doesn't. It was hard(sticky) to turn by hand so I spent a couple hours degunking and oiling it. It seems to run good and I have made...
I'm going to look at this machine. The couple got it at a garage sale to use the cabinet and don't know how or need to use the machine. The deal is real good. I know it will need serviced. Is there...
I want to make a full length 20* UQ. I will be using a differential cut with alternating baffle height from 2" to 3" for a 1" baffle height. I will have draft collars, primary and secondary...
I'm on the fence for this one. There is a Hang in Ohio the week before and then I'm in vacation the next month. Not sure if I have the funds for gas. I will try another time most likely the Fall hang.
I'm up to reschedule for May. I'll be out of town for Memorial Day weekend.
An easier option that may work for you is UGQ Winter tarp. Comes seam sealed and has a pole mod. It is made in Michigan and I'm sure Paul or Missy can answer all questions....
Felix is a very well behaved dog and tends to just run up to people instead of through them. That said, I had to untwist the line today as he had walk in enough circles to cause it to coil back on...
Read: have been using it for years with no issues. He has got tangled after walking in circles looking for his spot and easily walks out of it. He has a metal line that causes him to not walk around...
This is for a tieout not a leash. So, Just remember that even amsteel is a thin line and if you want a true leash a thicker grip end might be advisable. Sliding a foam tube or braiding a section...
