I put Grappler's Hitches on all my straps and I've never looked back!
Thanks Dutch, I'll be ordering soon.
Would the Daisy chain straps be used like Atlas Straps?
My main worry would be not getting the slipknot undone. Other than that, it's bulletproof!
What's the upper weight limit on the Carolina Red suspension?
X 10!
Yes, it's called a larkshead or cow hitch. Whoopie Hooks are made from a solid chunk of titanium, gonna have to work extra hard to break one.
I have yellow whoopies with camo straps.....guess I'm confused. Actually, the yellow is my favorite Amsteel color.....black comes in at a close second.
Yep, good old Boxwell! Camp Stahlman to be exact.
We're leaving on Sunday for Scout Camp. I'm taking the BSA Lifeguard class though, so not a lot of day lounging for me. But you can bet that I'll be swinging when the class is over!
Been using the grapplers for a few hangs and they work as advertised! I really like them....
Or whatever commercial name you got......
You can also seal the ends with Super glue.
Aluminum arrow shafts.
I roll the ends of my straps very tightly and hot glue them inside my toggles.
Been using the same set for two years now and they're still going strong. A little wear is normal, but Amsteel is inexpensive. Replace as you see fit. I always keep an extra sling in my backpack...
You could easily leave the thimble off, that would save some weight.
Just reread my post and I sound like a pompous ***! My apologies...... nevertheless, my point is still valid.
Yep! It's a solution to a nonexistent problem. Amsteel is tough and relatively inexpensive, when it shows wear, just replace it.
I have a 2' dog bone larkshdaded to each tree strap. There when you need them and out of the way when you don't.
Still using Whoopies/toggles and straps, but I did shorten my straps to 6'. If it ain't broke............
I second the Xenon from Dutch!
That's the way I tie them....didn't know there was another way.
1500# seems to stick in my head for some reason. I could be wrong though....it's happened once or twice.
Both sets are spoken for, thanks for the responses.
Done! Now send me yours.

Let's keep it rated G.
That's a good offer, but I have to decline. One set is spoken for and the other set is waiting for my lazy butt to post pics. Besides, I've already got some mule tape.
Just to be up front, cholla28 is trading 2 Dutch buckles for one set of hooks with straps and leads.
Roger that! Sorry.....
They're the single hole version and they were purchased just before Dutch stopped selling them. And yes, that trade will work fine. Pics will have to wait until tonight.
I've got 4 hooks total, talk to me.
I used very shallow cat cuts and it worked fine. There is a little stretch, so you probably should use cats.
Two more weeks.....
I've got two complete sets(straps, leads, and Hooks) for trade...I need cinch buckles and Fleaz, but I will consider other trades. Whatcha got?
Yep, I do similar. Been using camo or black straps for a few years now and I haven't forgotten one yet..........Knock on wood.......
I have first hand experience with this stuff a it's everything Dutch says and more! Sews nice, not a huge amount of stretch, and there's no problem seam sealing. I used Permatex Flowable Silicone and...
I always keep a handful of Ranger Bands in my pack for things like this, but I'm a little lazy as well and usually just let them hang. Good idea though.
I got it with my last order. Probably one of the easiest DIY projects I've done!
Well, there ya go!
The numbers will get you close, but fine tuning takes feel, not a calculator.
I am in complete control! Really, I am.....stop laughing......
That's a wonderful tool, I used it a lot before I learned how to eyeball it.
Or, go to a Pro Shop and ask nicely, they'll give you all the broken shafts you want!
What I mean is, this isn't an exact science. Your hangle will vary by a few degrees one way or another, but it should never move enough to put so much strain on the ridgeline that you would have to...
I wouldn't say "most of us". Besides, the 30 degree angle is just a starting point. If I actually measured and calculated my hangle, it would be shallower than 30, more like 25 or 26 degrees. It's...
Used the same set of straps for years and never had a problem like this, in fact, my wife is using that same set of cheap, yellow, Harbor Freight straps with the same toggles. That puts about 3 years...
I can't take credit for the idea. Someone posted it a while back and I've been using it since then.
Aluminum arrow shafts, sticks, ink pens, aluminum Slurpee straws....anything that can resist the crushing force of the MSH. Some folks are even using the rolled up ends of their straps. I always...
