I just made a DIY. It's really big and comfortable and I'm 6'5" 235lbs. It was my first DIY, and surprisingly easy to do using the whipping methods and a larks' heads.
I did the whipping and laid in my nice new crinkle taffeta 90"x156" burgundy red hammock today. I've got it on a vario hammock stand, and it's great :) It was the first time I've done whipping or...
how will do the ends? whipping?
Yes, of course you should give it a shot! :)
I hang indoors, but use a hammock stand. I could do the calculations to see if a 14 ft hammock + suspension would fit in those dimensions, but I've had...
Try sliding in a mayan! Crinkle-T is a big step up for me in the slippery department
I wish I could understand your sketch...can you explain it more or post a pic? sorry to ask so much
"East to West with one end 2 inches higher than the other"
Thanks for the review :-)
Yes, I'm sure many ppl would find the smaller size more practical. I, for one, really like the extra fabric. I had been getting annoyed with my mayan's narrowness and lack...
Which is more comfy: polyester or crinkle taffeta?
I thought the risk of aluminium poisoning was from deodorants/anti-perspirants? 0_o
I got my tablecloth 4 days after placing my order. 1 day for processing, and 3 days for shipping.
This kiba also dislikes the winter camping ;)
I would go with a fan that has an enclosure because it won't have problems if a something falls on it or if it falls. and it will continue to function instead of overheating the motor.
I love the idea of an indoor ridgeline to make a tent. I am going to try this right now :)
LOL The cat's probably the one who did it. A quick swipe with those sharp little claws and then he ran away to
my condolences. a terrible, tragic turn of events
Pics or it didn't happen!
Since sleeping in a hammock full timer, I rarely have backpain.
Are you looking for a hammock to camp in, relax in, or sleep in?
Gah! I wish I had gone for a Brazillian at first. Cannibal mentions in the 'What hammock do full timers use' thread:
"For indoors? Go cotton. Warm and washable, plus very soft.
I sleep 90% of...
Yogi, I saw that SimpleRabbit made a 12 ft gathered end hammock and DivaB made a 12x8 ft hammock w/ no seams. That might be a cheap and comfortable idea for you?
Check out the DIY section ;)
I'm taller than you by a couple inches, so a big hammock is important to me too. I sleep in a Tommy Hammaca XX Grande every night using the same hammock stand as you. It was recommended to me by...
Are similes allowed too?

 Wouldn't stuffing the fleece bag inside the mummy bag be more warm and comfortable?
"[The] finished size of fabric portion of the fleece hammocks is approximately 8 feet long and 4 1/2 feet wide."
The dimensions seem fine for hanging out in, but I'm not quite sure if I want to go...
If they're long enough, I'll probably get one for indoor hanging in the winter. It's hard to use a sleeping bag w/ a mayan hammock, so a fleece-lined hammock w/ blanket on top will be perfect.
Idk man...
If I had a really long hammock, I wouldn't necessarily hang it high, but I'd make it tighter to have less sag. That way, it might still have the same height difference from the bottom of...
I once used rubbing alcohol and elbow grease, and got a lot of tree sap off of my clothes.
Well I've been trying it and it's working wonders. I just put the head-end arm of my vario stand down a notch. Thanks again for the advice :)
I sleep in a tommy hammaca xx grande using this stand every night as well. It's great and comes in multiple colors so you can match it to the color of your walls or carpet.
Edit: I weigh 230, and...
spreader bars, ew!
Thank you, Diva! I'll look into it :)
Maybe I'll give it a try tonight.
Sine the hammock will sag and semi-circular shape, can't you just slide your torso down into it a little so your legs will be higher when they rest on the end of the hammock as it rises? Or use...
The adjustable hammock stands work well. I'm using one with a tommy hammaca xx grande. I sleep in it almost every night. I think mine is a blemished vario adjustable hammock stand. I don't even have...
I've been sleeping in my hammock every night since august '11 (unless I'm at the gf's). I got one of those vario adjustable hammock stands off of ebay for ~60-70 dollars w/ free shipping (it was a...
I sleep best if I'm halfway between being on my back and halfway on my side. Full on back makes me uncomfortable and I can't stand having my legs on top of each-other. That said, I sleep on my back...
Yes, now I know I'm not so weird! I put my pillow under my shoulders too! Not so much because of the chin to chest, but more because i feel like my hammock fold my shoulders inwards and the pillow...
Sorry I didn't reply sooner! I actually sleep in the sleeping bag with it zipped up.
If it's car camping, and you won't have to hike very much, then I have a suggestion:
Use a quilt. No not an underquilt, but a regular quilted quilt. I do this with my mayan hammock. I double the...
I don't know if this helps, but for me I sometimes put my pillow under my shoulders a little bit as well if I'm lying flat on my back. Or I just turn on my side a bit.
Have you tried a...
Brushybill, I read that one is supposed to put a pad or something underneath the hammock in case it fails. Is this unpractical/unnecessary when sleeping indoors?
Also, would this hammock be a...
