Thanks for all your efforts here, is it possible to change my order to 100' of the red and no yellow?
I'll take the following:
50 ft - 1.75 Red
50 ft - 1.75 Yellow
Thanks Opie !!
I need some too, and I need them NOW :D
Any orphaned yards? I'd love to pickup 1-2.
So after this past weekend trying the two in one setup again on the Arizona group hang, we have decided to add a second hanging setup (hammock, uq, tq) to our gear list for the AZ trail this March....
Derek,
Great video, your kids were troopers! The seed has been planted in his head, that's awesome. We will definitely let you know when we're in your neck of the woods and we'll be updating as...
Dejoha - Yeah, it was nice meeting up with you and your kids, thanks for sticking around long enough for us to pull our cold butts out of our hammock and thank the kids for their patience while we...
I would agree that they're rated warmer then they should be, but I'd say the difference is ~5-10 off, not 15. I bought both of mine at REI garage sales with blown out seems that could have caused the...
Very good advice, my wife and I sleep double in our hammock and use the sub-kilo for an under quilt and a kilo plus for our top quilt. Very good bags for their price.
Angelo,
What time are you going to head out? Jen and I have a few things to take care of in the early morning tomorrow before we can leave.
"Road/Vehicle: FR / Dirt Road / Gravel - Car Okay"
I took that straight from the hikearizona page on this trail because I cannot remember what it was like last time I was there.
We did share the hammock two weekends ago and it wasn't nearly as bad as I guessed it would be.
It was very warm and only slightly uncomfortable. Doing it again this weekend for two nights so I...
Thanks for bringing this up, definitely worth 1,000 pennies a year.
What about going a little further down the creek to avoid added use to the area and also take advantage of what our hammocks are capable of.
I've been there before and did follow the route you show on your map, but I cannot remember where I hung my hammock. How have group hangs met in the past if they didn't all leave together?
Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing the changes, I was there shortly before the deconstruction.
Roadtorque - sorry for letting it go silent for so long. Glad to see there is still interest.
Jen and I are flexible (Friday or Saturday), and Deer Valley 30 sounds like a great place to meet for...
Thanks for all your input and advice, I'll let you know some further results after this weekend.
Jeff, I didn't see anyone that tried the 3rd suspension line method. That was the topic I wanted to...
Yeah, I know we will move together, just don't want to be smashed together.
Why? Because two bodies are much warmer than one, especially under a shared quilt. Current two person hammocks don't actually allow the occupants to share insulation or body heat.
Basic idea:
A...
Grab some ripstop nylon, cut it to ~4'x9', singe the edges, and whip the ends.
This is the lightest hammock I have/use. Other fabric could get you lighter, but I've been happy with the ripstop nylon...
Without sounding like a pervert, are you sharing the hammock overnight or just for short periods of time? What hammock are you using?
Has anyone solved the 2 people in one hammock problem? My...
I graduate on the 17th, so I'll have more time to organize this hang after that.
Current Plan:
When: January 15-17
Where: Mid AZ "Fossil Creek / Fossil Springs"
The locations above are two...
I think the Fossil Creek area would be good, centrally located for everyone. Just curious, would anyone be interested in doing a longer hike in/out? Maybe 10 in & 10 out?
If weight is of concern I would recommend a good headnet over a full bug net. I guess it depends on where you're at geographically, but my headnet...
Yeah, gear can definitely be expensive, but you can also improvise for pretty cheap. My wife and I went out about three weeks ago and hung in ~30dF and I used an extra sleeping bag and a $5 blue ccf...
Okay, my wife and I will be hanging both weekends (doing the azt in March). But lets say we pin down the group hang to the 15-17 of January.
Okay, so after reading the trip report about the last AZ hang and being super jealous, I'd like to start up the discussion for a January AZ Hang.
I can do either the 1st-3rd or the 15th-17th,...
Thanks for sharing your knowledge te-wa. You're correct about the riparian and creek beds, have used tree islands on several occasions.
Yup, you're correct. I have to chuckle, so often I find...
Do you use the balloons with the grip clips?
Is the "blue" amsteel blue the only one that's UV protected or are all the colors the same?
What do you do if the whoopie sling gets wet and freezes over night?
I could think of a morning ritual I do that would help thaw out the line but don't think I would want to rely on that method.
Okay, maybe nobody has ever hiked the Arizona Trail with a hammock (my wife and I may be the first).
Hangers in AZ, any wisdom out there as to sections I should expect to sleep on the ground?
Any AZTers using hammocks? My wife and I are going NOBO in March and just curious how often we should be prepared to be on the ground. May change our gear list considerations.
How do I get more details on this event?
