I considered folding over a piece of ripstop then decided I would ponder the two separate layers that I could use as independent hammocks in a pinch.
Maybe instead of sewing the sides together sewing in button holes and using shock cord or am steel loops to keep it together?
Just thinking out loud and welcoming any thoughts...
