I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, but not too sure it's needed. It's putting downward pressure onit, and the poles are smooth, I think it should be fine without it, but I've only had this a couple months so...

yes, you run the shock cord through the poles, then tie it off to the hole in the pic. Then jam it in the pole, that's what hold it...

for the rigeline, I prefer separate lines, a dutch hook on one end, and a flyz on the other. Let's you crank down nicely.
For the tieouts, there's just so many lines. Getting rid of those four lines...
