great trip report! sounds like you have a great plan for getting out again soon
It's easier to set up and remove the straps from the tree with the carabiner / dutch clip / soft shackle as opposed to having to thread it through a loop.
I was wondering if a bandana would work for this. Very cool!
Awesome! I have them on my bagel bags from the grocery store. I'll have to keep a couple to test them out.
I wanted to come back to this thread and thank you for posting this info. I checked out the Sahalie site, which I had not seen before, and found this buff.

+1
I think this is a great decision.
that is ridiculously cool!
Excellent post! I'm going to jump on the me too train as well! :)
I say go for it. It is a good price and since you are moto camping the weight doesn't matter so much. I think a lot of people here would be interested in your review after you get it.
I think that we'll continue to see lighter fabrics, better cold weather gear and better/lighter ways to recharge batteries (ie solar, nPeg, etc...) and longer lasting batteries.
I like the idea of...
I think the biggest issue with this hammock is the weight.
I'm really pleased with this purchase too! I haven't had a chance to try it out camping yet but it was awesome for high school football games on the colder nights. Very warm!
LOL! Me too, their post looks like it would be fun to read.
The preferred way to lay in a hammock is the way that is comfortable to you. If you were enjoying your nap then I'd say your way was fine.

very cool!
Backyard training hangs are always a good idea.
I agree.
A lot of newbie hammockers have a budget for gear and can only afford one tarp. If they want to do both cold weather and warm weather camping then it might be best to get the larger tarp first and...
I've got one that I used last fall. There were pretty strong wind gusts the night I used it and I definitely think it helped to keep me warmer by keeping the wind off on the top. I had no problems...
Was it the Pano app or a different one?
Fantastic pictures. I'd consider framing the night shot and the panoramic of Deer Lake.
Awesome! Thanks for posting the pics. Very cool hang.
nice, i just placed my order. :)
In addition to what Paul said, I like having the ridge line to keep the bug net off my face and to hang stuff from.
Looks like this is the material that Adventure Medical Kits uses for it's stuff. I think a bunch of people have the blanket or bivy. If you search for them you might find some info on how people...
I agree with Mickey... Kukri, that is really awesome!
Oops, sorry - missed that part!
Sounds like a fun trip but where are the pictures of the 9 hammocks!
Really cool trip report! I would have been too scared to sleep.
Yep, I think you can safely say that it's time to start cutting. :) Cut lots of them, these things look very, very cool and I can't wait to get some to try out.
LOL. You'd think that storms would keep people away but we had some good ones last weekend and every single camp site that I've scoped out for hammock use was already booked. Apparently I'm not the...
It's one of the rustic campgrounds in Brighton Rec. There are about a half dozen spots at this campground that work with a hammock and the spots are somewhat separated so you aren't right on top of...
This trip was just a weekend at a local campground. Nothing exciting but it gave me a chance to try out some new gear. The primary new gear that I wanted to test was my new Ogee Tarp. I was hoping...
That is very cool!
I would want to be very careful not to have a practical joke that ended up damaging a hammock. Maybe I love my hammock too much but it wasn't cheap and any "friend" who played a joke that ended with...
I think you are very lucky... you have someone who loves to hike with you but who will never argue with you for the best hammock site when you camp. ;)
It assumes that you have an appropriate pad or UQ in place.
Ironically enough, the place that I've had the most luck finding them is in truck stop style gas stations along the internet. For whatever reason they have all the sizes and all the colors.
"Holy Snot" .... now there's a term you don't hear everyday. ;)
sounds like a crazy storm. i'm glad you came through it ok. very impressive performance from the tarp.
Very nice! Now you need to make 5 more set-ups like that so that she can have a sleep over with her friends. :)
Genius! Your tarp looks great.
Ha! This one's mine. Looks awesome Gargoyle, I can't wait to get it!
I'm a very cold sleeper and my black mamba has gotten me down to 30's easily. If you are a warm sleeper then it should be more than fine for you at that temp.
I tried velcro strap on my tarp too but I prefer the snakeskins. Much easier in my opinion.
That's awesome! She must have been so happy when you pulled that out. Very cool birthday present!
This post made me a little misty eyed too. Happy Birthday Avalonmorn! I hope you have many more.
Very cool Mac! kids would definitely love that.
I don't take that response as him starting to listen. It sounds like he is ignoring the comments because he views them as advertising for this forum.
